| As an important part of China’s higher education,local undergraduate universities,along with the popularization of China’s higher education,are responsible for training various application-oriented talents for regional economic and social development.As China’s economic development has entered the new normal operation stage,the international and domestic economic situation has become more complex,and significant changes have taken place in the types and demands of talents.These changes naturally put forward higher and new requirements for local undergraduate universities to run schools.Many local undergraduate colleges and universities are merged or upgraded from vocational colleges.Influenced by the traditional school-running philosophy,they are used to copying the school-running mode of old comprehensive universities and have deviation in their positioning.The common problems caused thereafter in terms of educational philosophy,educational goals,set of disciplines,application-oriented teaching staff,serving the local economy,are inconsistent with that of applied university,which result in a gap for talents to meet with social needs and the needs of regional economic and social development,and defer the realization of sustainable development.Based on education development theory and public service theory,this study mainly adopts literature research method,case analysis method and social research method.There are a large number of local undergraduate universities in China,and most of them are faced with the problem of transformation and development.Transformation and development is a systematic and complex project,which needs strong support and cooperation from the government,the society and the enterprise industry.Colleges and universities should seize the opportunity of transformation and development,give full play to their initiative,strive for all favorable resources for transformation and development,and turn into application-oriented universities as soon as possible to meet the development needs of the new era.This paper takes S university of Fujian province,which is actively promoting the transformation and development,as a case study.By analyzing the practical obstacles and reasons for the transformation and development of S university of Fujian province,and drawing on the practical experience of the transformation and development of two application-oriented universities in China,this paper studies the relevant problems in the transformation and development of local undergraduate universities.From the perspectives of school,the government,the market demand and economic society,this paper proposes that the government should change the traditional education management idea,plan the construction of specialty and subjects of applied science reasonably,strengthen the integration of production and education and cooperation between colleges and companies,raise the overall level of applied teaching staff,collect development funds through various channels for transformations,in order to better promote the development of the transformation of the local undergraduate universities in Fujian province. |
