Physical Activity Level And Pattern Characteristics Of Children Aged 11-12 In Yangzhou City

Abstract/Summary:
Objective: Discuss the current status of primary school children’s physical activity level and its pattern characteristics,and analyze the differences in physical activity levels and pattern characteristics of children of different genders and BMI types at different time periods,as well as the relationship with physical health.Provide a theoretical basis for enhancing the level of children’s physical activity in our country and promoting children’s physical health.Methods: 255 6th grade children aged 11-12 from a public elementary school in Hanjiang District,Yangzhou City were taken as the research objects.Use accelerometers and physical fitness measurement tools to measure the physical activity and physical fitness level of 6th grade students.After the equipment is recovered,the physical activity processing software Acti Life6.11.5 is used for data processing.Finally,the physical activity and physical fitness data were integrated,and SPSS22.0 was imported for data analysis.The data were all using the mean ±standard deviation(?x±s).The value of α is 0.05,that is,when P<0.05,the test result is assumed to be significant.Results:(1)The average daily LPA and MVPA time of children were 167.2±35.5min and 25.6±9.0min,respectively,and the average daily sitting time reached 595.8±59.3min.The MVPA time of boys was higher than that of girls(P<0.01),but there was no difference between MVPA time of overweight and obese children and normal weight children.(2)The duration of children’s MVPA <1min accounted for 65.1%.The total duration of MVPA duration of boys<1 min and 1-3 min was longer than that of girls(P <0.05),and there was no difference in the proportion of duration of MVPA duration between normal weight and overweight and obese children.(3)The proportions of children’s LPA and MVPA time on school days and MVPA duration of 1-3min,3-5min and ≥5min were higher than those on weekends(P<0.01);The proportions of LPA and MVPA time during school and MVPA duration of 1-3min,3-5min and ≥5min were higher than those of non-school(P<0.01).(4)The daily average MVPA of boys was weakly correlated with standing long jump,one-minute rope skipping and sit-ups(P<0.05);The average daily MVPA of girls has a weak correlation with 50-meter running,grip strength,and one-minute rope skipping,and has a moderate effect with standing long jump(P<0.01).Conclusions:(1)The level of physical activity of children aged 11-12 years in the urban area of Yangzhou is generally low,and the duration of children’s MVPA is short and sporadic.(2)The LPA and MVPA of 11-12-year-old boys in the urban area of Yangzhou are higher than those of girls,and the sitting time is lower than that of girls,but there is no gender difference in the proportion of duration of MVPA;Children in the overweight and obesity group had lower sedentary time than children with normal weight and higher LPA time,but there was no difference in BMI type in the proportion of MVPA duration.(3)The physical activity level of children aged 11-12 in Yangzhou city during school is higher than that during non-school,and the duration of non-school MVPA is shorter and sporadic;The level of physical activity on school days is higher than that on weekends,and the duration of MVPA on weekends is shorter and sporadic.(4)Children’s total MVPA time is positively correlated with physical fitness level.
