Environmental education is one kind of eco-products arises from traditional culture and knowledge which benefits consumers both physically and mentally, therefore make it possible for forest towns to make full use of their resource advantages.Environmental education products consist of routes, contents and human labor. It’s meaningful to research on environmental education routes based on forest town, course contents arise from traditional knowledge and capacity building of community members for forest town development.Sichuan has announced provincial forest towns since 2017 to encourage forest town community residents to provide environmental education services with capacity building as realizing value transfer of forest ecosystem for local benefits.Given the above situation,Shashiduo in Heishui,Aba Prefecture,Sichuan has been named among the first batch of Sichuan provincial forest towns. This essay records a two-year-long participatory program designed for developing environmental education products in Shashiduo.Applying literature research method, field survey, interview and participatory approaches while combining field investigation and community baseline survey, using Arc GIS and a Natural Language Processing tool based on PHP to conduct the research.Analysis on influence to community members and livelihood as well as pros and cons of participatory approaches is done to provide reference to future environmental education practice in Shashiduo forest town. The results are as follows:1)Throughout the participatory process,a mechanism with fourteen core members was founded in Shashiduo. The group includes 9 from community,4 from public institution and 1 from government, mainly consists of male(12)aged 40-49(8)and minority nationalities members(11),who to some extent have willingness and capacity to design environmental education activities.2)Environmental education route design of Shashiduo preferentially lies in Naizigou Village,Maheba Village,Yangrong Village and Sandagu Village by analyzing information from field survey.Combined with core members’ residence, two routes are designed as: Temple-Grassland-Xiongri-Manigou-Wuzhigou route in Naizigou Village,Sea buckthorn-Colored forest-Yak-Afforestation forest-Mushrooms route in Maheba Village.3)Environmental education activity design of Shashiduo preferentially centers on local traditional knowledge and culture. The results show that the local wild species top ones are: Fritillaria, bamboo,Pteridium, mushroom,Stachys geobombycis, black bear, snow leopard and Lutra lutra, while the domesticated species top ones are: yak,Hordeum vulgare, wheat and potato. The results show that hot words in resource word cloud are:yak, temple, water mill,Red Army, traditional Chinese medicine, wild flower and pilgrimage.Environmental education activity design of Shashiduo should be combined with seasonal community activities as which related to raising livestock be in late spring or summer/autumn,which related to traditional Chinese medicine and mushrooms between April and July, which related to agriculture be in spring or autumn, which related to celebrations be in winter.A series of environmental education products mainly in Naizigou Village and Maheba Village are planned including: forest study, wildlife observation, agricultural and raising livestock experience, cultural and celebration experience, forest utilization experience and Long March cultural experience.A conclusion can be drawn that participatory approach promotes community capacity building as introducing a more sustainable profit model and contributes to developing environmental education products in Shashiduo.A progressive achievement can be seen already and it is suggested to strengthen the collaboration between villages to promote the product and accelerate a mechanism for benefit distribution and profit feedback for environmental protection.
