With the increase of the prevalence of depression, the attention of the society to depression is gradually increasing.Middle school students are facing a variety of pressures, such as study, interpersonal communication, health, adaptation and so on,and thus produce more mental health problems. Therefore, according to the susceptibility model of depression and the quality stress theory, this study explored the influence of negative life events on middle school students’ depression and the possible mediating mechanism, and introduced relevant intervention research on this basis. In Study 1,a total of 746 students from four schools in Lanzhou,Baiyin,Jiayuguan and Aksu were investigated by using the negative life events scale, rumination scale, core self-evaluation scale and the center for epidemiological survey depression scale,to understand the current situation of middle school students’ negative life events, rumination, core self-evaluation and depression, and to explore the differences and relationships among the variables,so as to provide a theoretical system for the improvement of middle school students’ mental health education facilities; On the basis of study 1,study 2 adopted the method of group counseling intervention,in a middle school,55 students with the highest average score of rumination thinking were selected as the subjects of this study, and the subjects were randomly divided into an experimental group(27)and a control group(28),the experimental group was given 50 minutes of group counseling once a week,a total of 10 times, while the control group was only given group counseling of general psychological courses, the data differences between the two groups before and after the intervention were compared, and the effect of rumination based cognitive behavior group counseling program on rumination, core self-evaluation and depression level of middle school students was analyzed;Based on the first two quantitative studies, the third study used the procedural coding method to analyze and explain the data results through the qualitative research of semi-structured interviews.Through three series of studies, the main conclusions are as follows:1.In different genders, there are significant differences in negative life events, rumination and core self-evaluation among middle school students; In grades, there are significant differences in negative life events, rumination and depression; There are significant differences in negative life events at the level of whether they are the only child;2.Negative life events, rumination, core self-evaluation and depression of middle school students, these indicators have a significant correlation with each other;3.The negative life events of middle school students can significantly positively predict the level of rumination and depression, and can significantly negatively predict the level of core self-evaluation;The rumination of middle school students can significantly positively predict their depression, and can significantly negatively predict their core self-evaluation level; The core self-evaluation of middle school students can significantly negatively predict their depression level;4.Rumination has a significant mediating effect on negative life events and depression in middle school students;Core self-evaluation had a significant mediating effect on negative life events and depression in middle school students;Rumination thinking and core self-evaluation had significant chain mediating effect between negative life events and depression in middle school students;5.Cognitive-behavior group counseling course based on rumination can effectively intervene middle school students’ rumination, improve core self-evaluation and reduce depression level;6.The qualitative research results show that negative life events have an impact on the cognitive style,self-evaluation and negative emotion of individuals. The results show that the factors influencing the occurrence of depression in middle school students are not only external factors but also their own psychological quality. When middle school students face the same stressful or negative life events, the individuals with low rumination, the individuals with high core self-evaluation and the individuals with low rumination and high core self-evaluation are less likely to produce depression. At the same time,it also shows that the intervention of cognitive behavior group counseling course based on rumination can effectively improve the psychological quality of students by influencing the individual’s own cognitive mode, thus reducing rumination, improving core self-evaluation and alleviating their depression level. |
