| Lacking parents’ company for a long time and living in a single environment for a long time have negative effects on the mental development of teenagers.A series of studies have shown that the mental health development of teenagers living in boarding homes is hindered with the growth of age.The lack of a loved one’s company can lead to many outcomes of adolescent maladjustment to school life, which is likely to fail to meet the basic needs of the adolescent, such as lack of social and emotional support. However, recent research has shown that the environment can influence not only the individual, but also the individual’s environment.Intentional self-regulation is the ability that the individual must master in the process of positive development, and it develops rapidly in the individual’s youth stage. This may be because the group’s self-consciousness and its environment are undergoing drastic changes in the adolescent period, which provides a basis for the development of intentionality self-regulation in this stage.Previous studies have seldom explored the relationship between the school environment of junior middle school students in boarding school and their investment in school and the intermediary mechanism between them. Therefore, this study first explored the relationship between school atmosphere and school investment of junior middle school students in boarding school based on the development scenario theory, and then explored the mediating mechanism of intentionality self-regulation between them.Secondly,88 boarding junior high school students were recruited and divided into the control group(53 students)and the experimental group(35 students). The intervention of intentionality self-regulation ability was conducted on them, and some junior high school students were interviewed. In the first study,we found that there was a significant positive correlation between school atmosphere, intentionality self-regulation and school investment, and intentionality self-regulation played a partial mediating role between school atmosphere and school investment in junior middle school boarding students. Results of study 2 showed that after the intervention of intentionality self-regulation ability, there were no significant differences in the main variables between the control group and the experimental group, while there were significant differences in the main variables between the experimental group and the control group. The research shows that the school atmosphere of junior middle school students in boarding school indirectly affects the degree of school investment through intentionality self-regulation;After the intervention of intentionality self-regulation ability, boarding junior high school students’ ability has been significantly improved, however,it does not lead to the improvement of their school investment, which is probably because the early adolescent group does not have a deep grasp of self-regulation ability, that is,it can not be applied to other abilities. This study provides empirical support for the mental health development of junior middle school students in boarding school in the future, and indicates the important role of intentionality self-regulation in the good development of group mental health of early boarding adolescents. |
