Research On Social Support For Gig Economy Practitioners Under The Impact Of The Epidemic

With the rapid development of the digital economy,the new gig economy relies on Internet technology and provides new development space for employees with its characteristics such as fragmentation and flexibility.It also follows the increase in the number of second-child families and the elderly population year by year.People are concerned about domestic services.The demand for domestic products has shown a rigid upward trend,and the housekeeping service industry has also become one of the sunrise industries with huge market potential under the new economic form.Under the dual promotion of the gig economy and the housekeeping industry,the group of hourly domestic workers on We Chat who receive orders through We Chat groups and calculate and pay labor remuneration on a daily basis has gradually grown.In view of its marginal structural position in the domestic industry and the status of informal employment without formal employment relationships and stable labor pay,this research focuses on the material and psychological specificities faced by hourly domestic workers in We Chat groups under the special background of the epidemic.Dilemma and the composition of the social support system.Therefore,I hope to explore the path of the social support system of this group and make efforts to improve the current social support situation of the domestic worker group.Based on the field data obtained from the questionnaire method and semi-structured interviews,the analysis and discussion are carried out from the two dimensions of formal support and informal support from the perspective of social support.The main findings are: in terms of formal support,although the government has successively promulgated relevant policies to support the domestic industry,it mainly uses domestic enterprises as the intermediary of resource allocation,and the purpose is to promote the overall professionalization of the industry,rather than directly promoting individual labor.Improvement of well-being;in terms of informal support,We Chat daily domestic hourly workers mainly receive support from their social networks,including emotional confession,information transmission and economic support,to help them overcome the difficulties and challenges caused by the double disadvantage of structure.In the context of the epidemic,the functions of the social support network have also changed partly: First,the emotional support function based on kinship is gradually weakening,and the role of individual psychological resilience is particularly obvious.Second,weak relationships become an alternative choice when strong relationships fail.This group provides information support and behavioral support to solve the problems encountered in the smooth resumption of work and life.Based on the above research findings,this article finally puts forward relevant suggestions for specific adjustments and improvements in both policy and social work practices.
