The tutor is the main person responsible for the cultivation of graduate students.The tutor plays an important role in the guidance and cultivation of graduate students,the improvement of the quality of graduate education,and the reform and development of graduate education in the new era.This research investigates the status quo of graduate students’ satisfaction with mentors based on the perspective of students,and deeply analyzes the hidden problems behind the evaluation of graduate students’ satisfaction with mentors,and proposes measures to improve graduate students’ satisfaction with mentors.This research is based on the theoretical basis of the "Four Good Teachers" proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the national regulations on the responsibilities of postgraduate tutors.It determines the survey dimensions of graduate students’ satisfaction with tutors and constructs an index system.Through a questionnaire survey of 1821 graduate students in L University,based on descriptive statistics and difference analysis system,the degree of satisfaction of graduate students with the basic quality of the tutor and the performance of basic duties was explored.It was found that the satisfaction of graduate students with the basic quality of the tutor was higher than that of graduate students.Satisfaction with the basic duties of the instructor.On the whole,male graduate students’ satisfaction with tutors is lower than that of female graduate students,and their satisfaction with male tutors is lower than that of female tutors;With the growth of the grade,the age,the title and the number of tutors,the satisfaction of graduate students to tutors decreases;The satisfaction of professional degree postgraduates is higher than that of academic degree postgraduates;The degree of satisfaction of science,engineering,agriculture and medicine postgraduates is higher than that of Humanities and Social Sciences postgraduates;The degree of satisfaction of graduate students to the tutors who do not hold administrative positions is higher than that to the tutors who hold administrative positions;Graduate students’ satisfaction with tutors increases with the number of tutors,but it is not that the more the tutors,the better.On this basis,this study conducted in-depth and detailed interviews with 20 graduate students,8 tutors and 2 Graduate school managers in L University,in order to explore the main factors influencing graduate students’ satisfaction with their tutors.Through interviews,it is found that the specific reasons that affect graduate students’ satisfaction with their tutors include: some tutors have insufficient guidance in the process of tutoring,insufficient satisfaction with the diverse needs of graduate students(especially academic needs),and some graduate students have problems with tutors.Problems such as strong dependence,unclear planning for the future,generation gaps in teacher-student exchanges,lack of "empathy",and even the teacher-student relationship is stuck in a running-in period.At the same time,at the management level,there are problems such as insufficient implementation of the postgraduate education management system,lack of supervision,and weak "student-oriented" education management concepts.Based on the above research conclusions,this study believes that to improve graduate students’ satisfaction with their supervisors,it is necessary to start from three levels: school,supervisor,and graduate students.First,the school level should strengthen the supervision and guidance of tutors to ensure the smooth performance of the duties of tutors.The main task is to build and improve a platform for the professionalization of mentors,and to establish a sound evaluation mechanism for mentors.Second,at the level of tutors,we must improve the level of professionalism,clarify their own job responsibilities,establish a sense of lifelong learning,improve empathy,and teach students in accordance with their aptitude,so as to provide graduate students with good scientific research conditions and atmosphere.Third,the graduate level should clarify the positioning and planning of self-development,and take the initiative to establish a scientific research interaction relationship with the supervisor.
