In modern society,education has become an individual’s core competitiveness,and family background plays a decisive role in personal education.At the same time,with the changes in society,the divorce rate in my country has been increasing year by year,and the number of singlemother families has been increasing.Educational issues of single-parent families have gradually aroused widespread public concern.Although domestic and foreign scholars have a lot of research on children’s educational attainment,there is a lack of research focusing on single-parent families,especially the problem of education acquisition of children of single-parent families,which is a special group that needs in-depth research.In this study,retrospective interviews with single mothers and offspring of seven families were conducted to explore the influence of the special family background of single mother families on the education of offspring.The article mainly includes three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction explains the background and significance of this research,clarifies the related concepts and theories involved in the research,determines the scope and content of the research,combs the existing research results and trends,and introduces the three research methods used in this research.The main text analyzes the influence of micro-family factors on children’s education from three aspects: family resources,educational expectations and parenting styles within the family.First of all,the family resources were discussed on family economic capital,family cultural capital,and family social capital.The second chapter of educational expectations explores the educational expectations of single mothers for their offspring,the personal educational expectations of offspring,and the interaction between the two.And then the article investigates and analyzes the parenting style of single mother families.Next,on the basis of the previous three chapters,some reflections and suggestions are put forward.Finally,is the conclusion of this article.The final conclusions of this study are as follows.First,in the family resources of single mother families,family economic capital helps children to obtain higher education by directly providing educational resources.Family cultural capital is more inclined to indirectly improve children’s academic performance to affect their educational attainment.Family social capital can influence children’s educational attainment through the aforementioned two ways.It is worth noting that the lack of social capital in individual single mother families due to the lack of family structure has been made up for through family economic capital and family cultural capital.Second,in terms of the educational expectations of single-mother families,children with higher personal educational expectations have better academic performance and a higher level of education.At the same time,when single mothers have higher education expectations for their offspring and can be effectively passed on to their offspring,the educational level of the offspring of the family is also higher.In addition,in the interaction of educational expectations between parents and children,both parents and children have consistent higher educational expectations,which has a positive impact on the education of their offspring.Third,in the parenting methods of single mother families,single mothers who practice both authority and democracy pay more attention to the learning habits,language ability,and learning motivation of their offspring.Their offspring can promote personal educational attainment from better academic performance.However,the parenting behavior belongs to the single mother who alternates between authority and neglect,not only lacks guidance on the offspring’s learning attitude and learning attribution,but also lacks support for the offspring’s learning resources.As a result,it has a negative impact on the educational attainment of its offspring.Based on the research conclusions,the influence of unfavorable family factors can be alleviated from the following aspects.In order to make up for the lack of participation of singleparent parenting in the education of offspring,single mothers need to pay more attention to family education.Schools can play a role to increase the cultural atmosphere outside of the offspring of single mother families.Moreover,the government can also support education resources for single mother families by setting up social organizations.
