Since the 21st century,with the new round of basic education curriculum reform,the development of school-based curriculum has brought new opportunities for China’s education.The school-based curriculum has become one of the practical means to promote the development of school characteristics,balance the quality of education,and cultivate innovative talents for society.In view of the geographical imbalance in Chinas educational development,the school-based curriculum has made great progress but still has shortcomings,especially in rural elementary school in the northwest compared to the eastern and southeastern regions of China.Although rural elementary school in the northwest have responded to the call to implement school-based curriculum,the effect of its implementation is not satisfactory.The paper reflects the current situation of school-based curriculum implementation in rural elementary school in Northwest China through questionnaires and interviews,and further analyzes the problems and causes of school-based curriculum implementation in rural elementary school in Northwest China and proposes corresponding problem-solving strategies in order to provide theoretical and practical references for the implementation of school-based curriculum in rural elementary school in Northwest China and further enhance the school-based curriculum in rural elementary school in Northwest China.The paper consists of five parts.The thesis consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly includes the source of the topic,the significance of the topic,literature review and research method.The second part is the theoretical foundation of school-based curriculum and school-based curriculum,which includes the concept of school-based curriculum and three theoretical foundations.The third part is the analysis of the implementation of school-based curriculum in rural primary schools in Northwest China,which mainly includes the rich experience of the main body of the curriculum implementation but the professional degree needs to be improved;the rich curriculum resources but the single type of curriculum;the diverse forms of classroom organization but the neglect of cultivating practical skills;the curriculum has characteristics but the implementation is formal;the lack of effective evaluation of the curriculum implementation.The fourth part analyzes the reasons for the problems of school-based curriculum implementation in rural elementary school in Northwest China,mainly including the relative lack of teachers and neglect of theoretical training of school-based curriculum;indifferent awareness of school-based curriculum resources development;strong utilitarian educational purpose in rural elementary school;and the lack of evaluation mechanism of school-based curriculum implementation.In the fifth part,we suggest the improvement of school-based curriculum implementation in rural primary schools in Northwest China:improving teachers awareness of school-based curriculum implementation;focusing on using various curriculum resources;broadening teachers learning channels;and improving the school-based curriculum evaluation system.
