Research On The Impact Of NBA Team Ownership And Its Change On Sports Performance And Financial Performance

The ownership is different,the value orientation,objective function and governance structure of professional clubs are also different,and the ownership status of clubs,as the market subject of professional sports,has a great influence on professional sports.NBA league’s great influence and successful operation mode promote the development of professional sports in the world,and its successful forms and characteristics of professional sports ownership have become the preferred reference model for the reform and innovation of Professional Sports Clubs in China.China’s professional sports is in the deepening stage of reform,studying the NBA team ownership and its changes on sports performance and financial performance,to evaluate the effectiveness of China’s professional sports reform,rich experience,choose a specific reform path,further deepen the reform will play a positive role.Based on the influence of NBA team ownership and ownership change on sports performance and financial performance,this paper draws the main conclusions by using literature method,logical analysis method,comparative analysis method and so on:1.NBA ownership form after decades of historical evolution,although various forms,but still mainly private ownership,relatively stable,the high concentration of ownership is an effective way to maximize the allocation of resources.2.There have been 103 substantial changes in team ownership in the NBA in the past 70 years,mainly in the 1980 s,when ownership was transformed in a variety of forms,and after the 1990 s,ownership changed less frequently and mainly into private ownership.3.Changes in NBA team ownership have a greater impact on sports performance than harm.In the three years after the change,the probability of a positive impact on sports performance is about 65%,and teams with higher athletic performance will have an average winning field increase of about 9.9,an average winning rate of about9.9%,and an average ranking of about 2.7 places when entering the playoffs.4.Changes in NBA team ownership also have a significant impact on financial performance.Three years after the change,there is a 71 per cent chance of a rise in team profits and a 71 per cent increase in player costs.For teams with rising profits,the average team’s profit will rise by $11.57 million,player costs will rise for teams with rising player costs,and player costs will increase by an average of $19.83 million.5.After the change of ownership of NBA teams,within three years,the probability of both team sports performance and profits rising at the same time reached about 57%,and most new ownership will pursue the success of team sports achievements while maximizing the benefits.At the same time,more than half of the new team ownership in the increase in player cost investment,the team’s sports performance will also rise,reflecting the NBA team’s new ownership of good investment efficiency.
