There is an effect in academic self-concept,that is,the big-fish-little-pond effect(BFLPE).The big-fish-little-pond means that equally able students have lower academic self-concepts(ASCs)when attending schools where the average ability levels of classmates is high,and higher ASCs when attending schools where the school-average ability is low.From the perspective of social psychology,this research creates scenarios of "big or small pond" and "big or small fish"through experimental methods in the context of social cognition,that is,warmth and competence.Study the group impression evaluation and emotional experience level of high school students and the willingness to be out of the group.Then deeply explore the influence mechanism of "pond size" and "size of fish" on group impression evaluation,personal emotional experience level and willingness to be out of the group,and use this research results to put forward corresponding educational suggestions for theoretical support,so as to promote the healthy development of high school students both mentally and physically.In order to explore the group impression evaluation,emotional experience level and the willingness to be out of the group in the big-fish-little-pond situation,the following two studies were carried out:The first study is to manipulate the "pond size" through the "academic level of the class",that is,key classes,sub-key classes,and ordinary classes,The students from three different classes in the first grade of a school were tested.According to the comprehensive scores of the three subjects of Chinese;,mathematics and English in the most recent month,the students in each class of the first grade were divided into high group,middle group,and low group,namely "the size of the fish",to measure students’group impression evaluation(warmth and competence),emotional experience level,and willingness to leave for the classes.A multivariate and multi-factor analysis of variance was performed on the collected data to obtain the research conclusion:the stronger the overall level of the class,the more positive the group impression evaluation(warmth and competence)of the high school students in the class,and the more positive the level of personal emotional experience level;the enthusiasm of the classmates is simultaneously affected by the level of the class and the level of the students.Study two is similar to study one.Study two is to manipulate the "pond size"through the "group size".The group size includes:6-person dormitory,40-person class,and 200-person grade.The senior students from two schools were tested.The students of different groups were divided into high group,middle group,and low group according to their comprehensive scores in the three subjects of Chinese,mathematics and English four times in the most recent month,namely "the size of the fish",to examine the students’ group impression evaluation and emotional experience level,as well as the willingness to leave from the group.The results of multivariate multi-factor analysis of variance found that the larger the group size,the group impression evaluation(warmth and competence)and the individual’s emotional experience level increased first and then decreased;the lower the academic level of the high school students in the group,the greater the willingness to leave a group,the group impression evaluation(warmth and competence)shows a trend of first decrease and then increase;the personal emotional experience level of high school students is simultaneously affected by the group size and the academic level of the students in that group.Based on the above research,it is found that the group impression evaluation(warmth and competence)and personal emotional experience level of high school students are affected by the group size,class academic level and personal academic level,and the willingness to leave is affected by the academic level of students under different group sizes.In order to better promote the stable and sound development of students’ mental health,teachers,students,parents,and leaders of various groups must contribute their own strength to strengthen teacher-student communication,student-student communication,and home-school cooperation,and lead the students to physiologically and positively understand the high school academic competition,not only turning pressure into motivation;forming a virtuous circle,and improving high school students’ academic performance,but also paying more attention to cultivating students’ healthy personality,thereby promoting the development of students’ physical and mental health.
