Abstract/Summary:
With the continuous development of information technology,the role of pedagogical agent in education is increasing,which should not be underestimated.Pedagogical agent plays the role of communicator and guide in multimedia learning.The main purpose of pedagogical agent is to improve learners’ learning,which is embodied in its influence on learning effect and learning process perception.In the past studies,the influence of the image and voice of pedagogical agent on learning results is inconsistent.First of all,researchers have drawn different conclusions about whether the addition of pedagogical agent images can promote the learning.Some studies have found that the pedagogical agent images have a positive effect on the learning,while some empirical studies have found that the agent images do not promote learning in the learning process.Therefore,in view of this problem,some researchers believe that different learners have different preferences for agent images,and improving the satisfaction of learners with agent images may improve their learning interest.In this paper,we explore whether pupils’ preference for instructional agents affects learning outcomes.Secondly,as for the influence of agent’s voice on learners’ learning,some relevant theories and studies believe that agent’s use of real person recorded voice provides learners with a more real interactive experience,thus promoting the active learning process.However,due to the low sound quality,the machine-synthesized sound increases the external cognitive load of learners and hinders their learning.However,due to the development of text-to-voice technology,the progress of machine-synthesized voice software may cause the absence of voice effect.As an immature primary school student,how to perceive the voice of the agent and whether it will affect the learning still need to be deeply discussed.Starting from the ideas in the above summary,this study designed two experiments to explore the influence of primary and middle school students’ preference for pedagogical agent image on their learning and the influence of pedagogical agent sound type on primary school students’ learning in multimedia learning by adopting the method of questionnaire survey,literature research and experimental research,and achieved corresponding results.The main research work of this paper includes:Firs of all,through the review of domestic and foreign literature,this paper summarizes the research status of the image of pedagogical agents and the influence of sound on learning.On this basis,the reasons for selecting the topic,research content and research methods are expounded.Secondly,the research process is designed,including the design of the image and sound of the pedagogical agent,the design of the teaching content and the program design of the experiment implementation,based on the concepts and theoretical basis of the pedagogical agent and the empirical research at home and abroad.Then it is the application effect research of pedagogical agent.Using the experimental research method,two groups of experiments were designed to explore.Experiment 1 explored whether pupils’ preference for pedagogical agent image would affect learners’learning.Experiment 2 explores the influence of sound types of teaching agents on primary school students’ learning.The basic conclusions drawn from the above two experiments are as follows:(1)Primary school students’ preference for agency images has a positive moderating effect on learning.In other words,under the condition of character preference,pupils have better transfer performance,higher learning interest and higher learning investment.(2)In the multimedia learning environment,when the pedagogical agent uses anthropomorphic speech,the learning interest of primary school students will be improved and the transfer performance will be higher,but the learning engagement will be higher under the condition of real person recorded speech.Finally,the deficiencies of pedagogical agent and experimental design and experimental conclusions in the research are reviewed and summarized to provide reference for the application of pedagogical agent in teaching.
