With the continuous development of the world economy, exchange and cooperation between people and countries are becoming more frequent. The development of China’s economy has attracted foreign students from all over the world. When people migrated to a new country, they inevitably encounter the problem of cross-cultural adaptation, which became a standing problem for a long time.In this paper,Malian students in China are the research object. In order to understand the cross-cultural adaptation of overseas students, online questionnaire survey and interview were conducted on all Malian students in China to study their cross-cultural adaptation. The questionnaire provides information on structural problems, and the interview provides information on an open and in-depth exploration of research problems. This paper consists of four chapters:introduction, which describes the research objectives, research significance, theoretical basis, and research status of cross-cultural adaptation. The first chapter introduces the research object, research methods, questionnaire and interview design, and the survey object’s information statistics. The second and third chapters are the main part of the research, including the statistics and analysis of Malian students’ cross-cultural adaptation and the attribution analysis of their cross-cultural adaptation,.The fourth chapter is the conclusion, the research summary, the problems found in the research, and puts forward some suggestions for the issues related. The survey mainly includes five aspects:learning adaptation, psychological adaptation, life and environment adaptation,socio-cultural adaptation, and cross-cultural communication adaptation. This paper analyzes the cross-cultural adaptation of Malian students using a five-level scale and explores the internal and external factors that affect their cross-cultural adaptation.Through the analysis of the survey results,we can see that the difficulties of cross-cultural adaptation of Malian students are mainly reflected in climate, diet, and religion. The main manifestation of their "culture shock" is homesickness. The study found that the internal factors of Malian students in China, such as gender, age, education level, time spent in China, language level, and so on,have a significant impact on their cross-cultural adaptation.Among the external factors, the influences of social support and cultural distance are more obvious.Malian students lack social support, which makes them lack a sense of belonging.Cultural distance makes Malian students face the challenge of cultural conflict in their study in China, which affects their study and life.Based on the research results, the author analyzes the cross-cultural adaptation strategies of Malian students. The results show that Malian students mainly adopt the cultural adaptation strategies of integration and separation in the process of learning in China.By comparing the similarities and differences between the two cultures, the author analyzes the problems of cross-cultural adaptation of Malian students and its causes and puts forward some suggestions for related problems.
