| With the rapid growth of China’s overall economic level,China’s tourism market is booming,forming a situation of "Domestic tourism market develops rapidly,the inbound&outbound tourism market develop stably".The rapid development of the tourism industry requires a large number of tourism talents.However,the phenomenon of low employment intention,low employment rate and high turnover rate of higher vocational students majoring in Tourism Management in colleges and universities has emerged,which makes the contradiction between tourism talents training and market demand increasingly prominent.The main reason is that students do not have a high sense of professional identity,which directly affects their future employment intentions in this industry.As the "reserve force" of the tourism service industry,higher vocational students majoring in tourism management have both certain theoretical knowledge and cultural cultivation,as well as excellent tourism service skills.They are the backbone of high-quality tourism services.In this context,this study investigates the influence of professional identity on employment intention among higher vocational students majoring in tourism management,and explores the relationship between professional identity and employment intention,so as to improve the level of professional identity of higher vocational students majoring in tourism management and improve the phenomenon of low employment rate in this industry.This research takes the higher vocational students majoring in tourism management as the research object,through combing the literature related to professional identity and employment intention,identifying four dimensions of professional identity,namely,cognitive professional identity,affective professional identity,behavioral professional identity,appropriate professional identity,and four influencing factors of professional identity,including professional discipline construction,professional employment status,others’ influence and social recognition.A questionnaire on higher vocational students’professional identity and employment intention was compiled based on these factors.After analyzing these valid questionnaires,this paper draws the following conclusions.Firstly,the professional identity and employment intention of higher vocational students majoring in tourism management are generally at a medium level.Secondly,among the higher vocational students majoring in tourism management,their professional identity and employment intention have significant differences in gender,grade,long-term residence,annual family income,voluntary choice,student cadre,work or part-time experience.Besides,the professional identity of the higher vocational students major in tourism management has a significant positive impact on employment intention,among which,the appropriate professional identity has the greatest impact on employment intention.In descending order,the degree of influence is Appropriate Professional Identity,Cognitive Professional Identity,affective professional identity,Behavioral Professional Identity.The influencing factors of professional identity have a significant positive impact on the professional identity of higher vocational students majoring in tourism management.Among them,professional employment status has the most significant impact on professional identity,and in descending order,the degree of influence is professional employment status,social recognition,others’ influence,and professional discipline construction.On this basis,suggestions to enhance the professional identity and employment intentions of higher vocational students majoring in tourism management are put forward in four aspects:optimizing professional construction,improving the enterprises’ employment system,forming educational synergy,and creating a social environment that promotes employment. |
