Kindergarten teachers undertake the responsibility of the development of preschool education in our country,which is crucial to promote the lifelong development and healthy growth of children.Novice kindergarten teachers in the early stage of career development have more spaces to improve their competence in kindergarten education compared with teachers in other stages of development Therefore,it is particularly important to continuously enhance the competency level of novice kindergarten teachers to promote the development of early childhood education.This study through literature analyzing,interviewing,questionnaire surveying to build the professional knowledge,communication ability,organization ability,teachers’ ethics and ideas,learning consciousness five kindergarten novice teacher competency dimensions,according to the feature the kindergarten novice teacher competency questionnaire surveyed 283 part of the kindergarten novice teachers competency in Jiangsu province status quo.The survey found that :(1)the overall competence of novice kindergarten teachers is good.(2)among the dimensions,the score of organizational ability and learning consciousness is high,the competence level is the best,and the competence level of professional concept and teacher ethics is good.The dimensions of operation and communication skills and professional knowledge are relatively weak,mainly because of the low scores of basic skills and conservation knowledge.(3)the difference of competency level in teacher’s background: novice teachers’ competency has no significant difference in gender,while novice teachers’ competency has significant difference in school nature and educational background.Based on the analysis of the problems existing in the competency dimension of novice kindergarten teachers,the mastery and application of professional knowledge in the dimension of professional knowledge and the level of basic skills in the dimension of operation and communication ability,this paper puts forward somestrategies to improve the competency of novice kindergarten teachers.At the kindergarten level,it provides opportunities for novice teachers to learn and grow,and organizes teaching and research observation and practical training activities to promote novice teachers’ competence.At the individual level,novice teachers should cultivate the awareness of independent learning and the concept of art education.
