Children are the children of nature,and it is the nature of young children to be close to nature.However,in today’s era,due to the limitations of various factors,hinder children’s contact with nature,resulting in more and more children suffering from "natural deficiency syndrome".In order to establish a close and friendly relationship between children and nature and promote the development of children’s physical and mental health,more and more kindergartens introduce natural materials into regional activities.However,at present,there are still some problems in the application of natural materials in kindergarten regional activities,such as teachers’ inaccurate grasp of the value of natural materials,lack of teachers’ ability to develop and apply natural materials,lack of parental participation and so on.so that natural materials can not effectively play its educational value in the application.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to explore the practical problems of the application of natural materials in kindergartens,using the way of case study to collect data by the methods of literature,observation and interview.First of all,collect a large number of related literature,define the core concepts such as natural materials and the application of natural materials,sort out the relevant research results of the application of natural materials in kindergarten,and point out the characteristics,shortcomings and enlightenment to this research.Secondly,enter the scene to collect the relevant data of the application of natural materials in kindergarten in the past two years and at present through observation and interview,focusing on the current situation of the application of natural materials in the regional activities of S kindergarten.Materials were collected from the input of materials,the use of materials,teachers’ guidance and parents’ attitudes respectively.Finally,through the collation and analysis of the data,the paper summarizes the vertical development process and horizontal development status of the application of natural materials,puts forward the effectiveness and shortcomings of the application of natural materials in kindergarten and reveals the reasons for its deficiencies.The study found that the application of natural materials in S kindergarten has achieved certain results: first,the application of natural materials has been valued by the kindergarten;second,the use of natural materials is open and flexible;third,the quality of regional activities has been improved.However,there are still some deficiencies in the application of natural materials in S kindergarten,such as: the goal orientation of the application of natural materials is one-sided,and the application process attaches importance to the development of children’s knowledge and ability and neglects the establishment of children’s emotional attitudes and values.lack of effectiveness in the delivery of materials,teachers do not put in or update materials step by stepaccording to children’s age characteristics and actual needs.The use of natural materials ignores the subjectivity of children.On the one hand,teachers do not allow children to participate in the regional wall layout,on the other hand,teachers’ guidance too highlights the authoritative status of teachers.Finally,the application of natural materials lacks the participation of parents and the support of community material environment,and does not form the joint force of garden,family and community education.In order to improve the present situation of the application of natural materials in kindergartens,kindergartens should integrate the forces of kindergartens,families and communities to jointly achieve the application goals of natural materials in regional activities,pay attention to the actual needs of children and improve the effectiveness of material delivery;adopt a variety of ways,such as the integration of the four seasons to carry out thematic regional activities,encourage children to participate in the layout of the wall environment,and optimize the application of natural materials in the process of regional activities;Improve teachers’ literacy and improve the overall level of teachers’ application of natural materials.
