| As the hub of teaching practice, university laboratories are not only essential for training undergraduates and postgraduates’ experimental ability and professional skills, but also an important incubator for cultivating students’ innovative ability and scientific research capacity. With the rapid development of higher education, the number of university students has been ever-increasing.In recent years, the safety problem of laboratories in universities has become increasingly serious, and safety accidents have been occurring frequently.Minor cases have caused damage to laboratory instruments and facilities, forcing the experiments to stop, thus delaying the progress of teaching and scientific research.Major cases have caused experimental casualties, rendering adverse social impacts on the reputation of the university. Therefore,it is imperative to strengthen the safety management of university laboratories.Especially for the laboratories of engineering universities, precision instruments and equipment are installed, flammable and explosive dangerous goods, chemicals, radioactive sources and radioactive samples, etc.are in store, the safety management issue is more prominent, and thus special attention is required. It is of great necessity to take effective safety management measures to guarantee laboratory safety.Accident-Causing Theory is a safety management model for a clear analysis of the occurrence and development of accidents by decomposing the process of the accident and the consequences of the accident. It can provide corresponding measures to prevent the recurrence of accidents.Based on the overall analysis of the big data of laboratory safety accidents in China in recent years, this thesis employs the Accident-Causing Theory model to conduct an in-depth study of three typical cases, and obtains an overall result of the current situation of laboratory safety in China.Focusing on the teaching and research environment of T University, this thesis comprehensively analyzes the status quo of laboratory safety management, and investigates the hidden dangers and conspicuous problems of T University laboratories by combining the theoretical model of AccidentCausing Theory with the interviews with the leaders of laboratory safety organizations of T University and the questionnaire survey conducted in the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology,a typical representative of T University. Finally, influencing factors of laboratory safety in T University are concluded, which are as follows: The laboratory safety knowledge training effect is not satisfactory;Documents such as system of laboratory safety management and operation rules are not comprehensive, and the implementation does not meet the required standards; The routine laboratory safety inspection is superficial, and the laboratory has various safety hazards, but lacks of necessary and effective mechanisms for supervision, error correction, reward and punishment;Experimental equipments are outdated, safety facilities and equipments are imperfect, and full-time personnel are insufficient; There is no laboratory safety culture or good safety habits;Laboratory safety management is traditional and not efficient, without high level of informatization, and so forth.Regarding the above-mentioned problems, this thesis proposes to enrich laboratory safety training forms, increase practical exercises and emergency drills, improve and implement laboratory safety management systems, enhance laboratory safety comprehensive supporting systems, build up laboratory safety culture, and construct laboratory safety informatization. |
