As an important part of China’s graduate education,academic postgraduate education is the key link between the output of bachelor’s degree and the input of doctor’s degree,and the cornerstone of the cultivation of innovative talents in China.The quality of the academic master’s degree has received common attention from both the students and the society.Researching the learning outcomes of academic postgraduate can help students understand and evaluate their own learning gains,to meet the students’ internal concern about the quality of training.Exploring the influencing factors of academic postgraduate students’ learning outcomes can help them find the direction and ways of self-improvement.This study first clarified the connotation of learning outcomes through the collation and analysis of relevant literatures.Then,based on the relevant policies in China,and with reference to several famous international student learning evaluation tools,such as CAAP and EPP,the self-evaluation index items of academic master students’ learning outcomes were initially drawn up.Later,the index was modified and weighted by the Delphi method.Finally,this paper formed a "self-evaluation index system for academic master students’ learning outcomes",which was composed of 4 first-level indexes,8 second-level indexes,26 third-level indexes and the weight of each indicator.In this index system,the proportion of the 4 first-level indexes is from high to low: thinking field,skill field,knowledge field and emotion field.Among the secondary indicators,"thinking ability" accounts for the highest proportion,followed by "professional skills",and "emotion and attitude" accounts for the lowest proportion.Therefore,experts believe that the cultivation of thinking ability is the most important for academic postgraduate students.Subsequently,this study took University H as an example to understand the general situation of academic master students’ learning outcomes through questionnaire survey,and explored its influencing factors to help explore the ways of self-improvement.Through the analysis of 652 valid questionnaires collected,the paper finds that the average self-evaluation score of academic master’s students in University H is only at a medium level,indicating that the academic master’s students in University H believe that their learning outcomes during the master’s degree study need to be improved.By exploring the influencing factors of academic postgraduate students’ learning outcomes,the paper finds that six self-controllable influencing factors including learning motivation,learning strategy,learning investment time,learning investment quality,student interaction and teacherstudent interaction all have a significant impact on the learning outcomes of academic postgraduate students.The demographic characteristics,family background,academic preparation and other stable factors of the students have a certain influence on the learning outcomes of academic master students.External factors,such as external political and economic environment,campus environment,school policy,and tutor’s guidance style,will have a certain impact on the learning outcomes of academic master students.Through the above investigation and analysis,this paper summarizes the following ways for academic master students to improve themselves: 1.Establish correct values,set goals and break them down into short-term goals,the rational view of the gain and loss,the success of the correct positive attribution,strengthen their own learning motivation through self-reward.2.Learn to summarize,explore their own way of learning,in the face of pressure and so on to learn to adjust themselves,learn how to manage time and rationalize learning to invest time,learn to use resources.3.Cultivate their own learning enthusiasm,increase active learning input.4.Deal with the relationship between teachers and peers,try to communicate with teachers actively.Through these ways,academic postgraduate students are expected to obtain more learning outcomes.
