Reading ability is a necessary skill for a person to learn for life.Countries around the world have carried out many reading activities to improve people’s reading level.In 1990,France promoted extracurricular reading nationwide.In 1996,the United States proposed the "American Reading Project." China also regarded "reading for all and building a book-scented society" as an important strategic deployment of the country.Therefore,reading for all should be started from an early age,especially primary school students with preliminary reading ability.Reading teaching is the focus of Chinese teaching in primary schools,and extracurricular reading guidance is an integral part of reading teaching.Pupils have strong plasticity,and the limited texts in the textbooks can no longer satisfy the students’ desire for knowledge.In addition,the learning process has experienced a low-to-high and gradual stage,so children need to read works that are consistent with their growth.The extracurricular reading guidance in the middle and high grades of elementary schools under the compiled textbooks can not only cultivate students’ reading literacy,improve students’ language ability,but also shoulder the important mission of building up morals.Teachers instructing students to read after school can promote the formation of positive values of students,promote China’s excellent traditional culture,enrich the cultural heritage of Chinese characteristics,and enhance national self-confidence and pride.How to choose suitable books and create a good extracurricular reading environment in the context of compiling Chinese textbooks,combining middle school and senior Chinese language teaching objectives and students’ existing foundations and interests are all urgent problems in reading teaching.How to choose suitable books and create a good extracurricular reading environment in the context of the compiled Chinese textbook,combined with the middle and high-level Chinese language teaching goals and students’ existing foundations and interests,is a problem that urgently needs to be solved in current reading teaching.The thesis mainly includes six parts:Part One: Introduction.This dissertation sorts out the existing research,clarifies the basis and significance of the topic selection,and determines the overall thinking and research method of the thesis.Part II: Definition of core concepts and elaboration of theoretical basis.Part III: Analysis of the compiled textbooks.This article is based on the compilation of textbooks for the middle and upper grades of Chinese in primary schools,and analyzes the layout characteristics of "Happy Reading",auxiliary reading system and reading strategy unit.Part IV: Investigation,analysis and conclusion.The thesis takes questionnaire survey as the main data source and combines interview method and observation method to focus on teachers and students of Nanning Minzhu Road Primary School.Among them,students investigate from the aspects of extracurricular reading interest,environment,content,habits,methods,etc.Teachers’ survey and interview analysis include teaching concepts,teachers’ reading literacy,and extracurricular reading instruction methods;analyze the problems and causes of the extracurricular reading status in middle and senior years.Part V: Propose strategies.The thesis attempts to provide valuable suggestions for the guidance of extracurricular reading in the middle and high grades of primary school Chinese under the compiled textbooks for the reference and reference of front-line teachers.On the school side,enhance the professional development level of teachers,create a good reading environment,and systematically carry out rich extracurricular reading activities;on the teacher side,improve personal reading literacy,effectively carry out extracurricular reading guidance,formulate a reading guidance plan,internalize extracurricular reading,and actively organize class extracurricular reading activities;parents,cooperate with school work,correctly guide children’s extracurricular reading,study together,and create a family reading atmosphere.Part VI: Conclusion.It mainly includes the research results,research deficiencies and prospects.
