| In recent years,the number of middle class of China has increased significantly,middle-class has been playing an increasingly important role in social structure of China.Education,which be regarded as a channel of class mobility,has been highlighted.The phenomenon of “a wave of after school tutoring” and “middle class educational anxiety” reflected that Chinese middle-class parents’ confusion of choosing the right parenting style of educational participation and investment.In order to foster the the skills and abilities which could be accepted by society,more and more Chinese middle-class parents start to using a certain foster strategy to achieve a better social position.The purpose of this mixed method sequential explanatory study was to identify which factors affect the Chinese middle class’ s behavior of fostering their next generation’s non-cognitive ability and in which way these factors affect the behavior.And during these influence process,which kind of educational strategies are used in different types of Chinese middle class parents.Firstly,through theoretical analysis,this research expounds the important role of researching non-cognitive ability in analyzing parental education concepts and strategies.After Investigating and obtaining 588 valid data of the middle and lower grade parents in primary school,we not only examine the structure with Exploratory Factor Analysis,but also using Confirmative Factor Analysis to testify it,establishing a knot equation model to obtain quantitative data with SPSS 25 and Amos 21,and then targeting seven different families which is divided into three types for in-depth interviews.In the quantitative study,four influencing factors affecting the noncognitive ability forester behaviors of the parents were extracted.They were the behavioral attitudes,subjective norms(The influence from previous generations relatives and closed friends),parents’ evaluation of the child’s non-cognitive ability and the parent’s behavioral intentions.Among them,the parents’ behavioral attitudes,subjective norms,and parents’ evaluation of their children’s non-cognitive ability are three factors which influence parents’ behavioral intentions and thus affect their behavior.In the qualitative research stage of the subsequent analysis of the seven cases,through the coding analysis of the interview drafts,four different types of education and training motivations were extracted—Cultivate global rivalrousness;Plan for natural growth;Upward mobility;Natural foster.Different meanings of fostering the non-cognitive ability of the offspring in the entire educational practice were found.Then,the paper further analyzes and discusses the results of quantitative research and qualitative research,and expounds the contradictory of the ideal cultivation value and real cultivation reality which Chinese middle class parents cannot avoid when they foster the non-cognitive ability of their next generation.The act of cultivating the offspring’s non-cognitive ability is actually a process of individual cultural practice.Parents should “penetrate” their own living conditions,cultural production and cultural practices,and reflect on behavioral logic of their own dominant position.Develop a new elite with non-cognitive ability and skills to quickly adapt to any environment and have a sense of "ease".Finally,from the perspective of "interaction",this paper throw out suggestions for parents to cultivate their offspring’s non-cognitive ability,and then introspect to the investigation and summary of the research. |
