As the highest level in China’s educational structure,postgraduate education should shoulder the important task of cultivating high-quality and innovative talents for the modernization of the country.The quality of postgraduate education has also been a topic of concern to society.With the expansion of the scale of postgraduate education,the quality problem of postgraduate education has become increasingly prominent.In the process of cultivating graduate students,the supervisors’ instruction is very important to improve the quality of graduate education.To explore what style of supervisors’instruction is more conducive to the academic performance of postgraduate students,to further improve the supervisor instruction to improve the quality of postgraduate education.In this context,this study takes the supervisors instruction in student’s experience as the starting point,and uses the quantitative research method to analyze the correlation between the supervisor instruction style and the instruction effect of the postgraduate students and what kind of supervisor instruction is more conducive to the academic performance of the graduate students.Qualitative interviews as a basis for further discussion of the reasons behind the existence of evidence and the basis for relevant countermeasures and suggestions.With a view to promote the supervisors’instruction and to improve the quality of graduate education with theoretical value and practical value.Based on the study of foreign maturation scale and reference to a large number of related literatures,this study has formed a questionnaire through project screening and reliability and validity analysis.The questionnaire contains four portions of personal basic information,instruction effect,supervisor instruction style,personal initiative.A total of 416 postgraduates in different regions and different types of colleges and universities were investigated.And the statistical analysis of the survey data to identify the problem,combined with the interview to analyze the causes of the problem,and finally put forward the relevant countermeasures and suggestions for the problems existing in the supervisors’ instructionThe basic issues of concern to this study:(1)What are the factors that contribute to the academic inputs and outputs of postgraduates;(2)What are the characteristics of the supervisors’ instruction to promote the academic inputs and outputs of postgraduates?(3)how to improve the instruction of supervisors and then improve the instruction effect of postgraduates effectively.This study draws the following conclusions from the perspective of pedagogy,management and psychology:(1)The supportive supervisory style and the controlling supervisory style both have a significant positive effect on the student’s instruction effect.(2)Personal initiative has a significant positive impact on the instruction effect of postgraduates.(3)There is a significant positive correlation between the personal initiative and the instruction effect of the postgraduates in the supportive supervisory style.The interaction between the instruction effect of the postgraduates in the controlling supervisory style is not obvious,but the interaction between the personal initiative and the controlling supervisory style is negatively correlated with the postgraduate instruction effect.This study discusses the possible causes of the above conclusions and presents the following suggestions:(1)supervisor’s aspect:clear supervisor’s responsibilities,enhance their sense of mission and responsibility;improve their professional quality;improve the instruction method,improve academic guidance ability;guide students to establish the correct values,improve students’ learning initiative.(2)master’s aspect:a clear purpose of scientific research,correct attitude;stimulate internal motivation,enhance learning initiative;strengthen scientific research and improve academic standards.(3)Institutional and environmental aspect:to improve the current management system of supervisors,including the selection of supervisors system,the development of supervisors work norms,improvement of the supervisor evaluation system;establish a democratic management,including the establishment of flexible supervisors’selection mechanism,the implementation of mentor team system;to optimize the management mechanism for postgraduates,including the reform of graduate entrance examination system,reform of postgraduates training system to strengthen their learning process management,strict degree requirements to increase the difficulty of academic challenges;The use of economic leverage in the process of postgraduate education,to provide the necessary material conditions as a guarantee for postgraduates to carry out scientific research activities.This study is helpful to enrich the relevant research of supervisors’ instructor and postgraduates’ academic inputs and outputs,find out the problems and causes in postgraduates’education,and how to stimulate the enthusiasm of both supervisors and graduate students,so as to improve the quality of postgraduates’ education.
