The Impact Of Internet Use On Government Performance Evaluation ——An Empirical Study Based On N City In Guangxi

As the most outstanding achievement of information technology revolution,the Internet has gradually penetrated into all aspects of people’s lives with the help of diversified technical features and rich functions,and has subtly changed lifestyles,ideas and attitudes towards the government.In the information age,the government is no longer the only subject of information release and dissemination.People have access to the network.It is convenient to participate in government performance evaluation.The public’s perception and evaluation of government performance are largely affected by the media information.It can be seen that the impact of people’s Internet use on government performance evaluation deserves attention.In fact,the public spends more time on the Internet,gradually forms online relationship networks,reconstructs and optimizes social networks,and further affects evaluations of government performance.In view of this,this paper discusses the impact of Internet use on government performance evaluation and the mechanism of social network in the middle.According to the previous literature,based on acculturation theory and social cognition theory,the social network is divided into two dimensions including online relationship network and offline communication network,and the government performance evaluation is divided into three dimensions including political performance evaluation,economic performance evaluation and social performance evaluation.Based on the questionnaire survey in N city of Guangxi,a total of 473 valid questionnaires are collected,and the research hypotheses are verified by statistical analysis methods such as correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis.This study finds that the Internet affects the social network and the evaluation of government performance.The use of the Internet can not only expand the online relationship network and offline communication network,but also improve the evaluation of political,economic and social performance.The mediation effect test shows that social network plays a partial intermediary role between Internet use and economic performance evaluation,and the association between Internet use and political performance evaluation is fully mediated by online relationship network.Based on the above conclusions,this paper puts forward policy suggestions from the perspectives of strengthening the construction of Internet hardware and software facilities,deepening the construction of network culture and paying attention to social network.
