| Robert cox is a pioneer of the western critical theory of international relations. His critical thoughts mainly include the criticism of the mainstream international relations theory--neoliberalism and neoliberalism,on the other hand, the realistic criticism of the current world order.Neoliberal ideology started from the 1920 s,experienced the economic crisis of the 1930 s,and gradually became the rule orientation of capitalist countries. In the 1970 s,it occupied a dominant position in western developed countries. In the 1990 s,the emergence of the "Washington consensus" was the final practice of the development of neoliberalism. The ideas and practices of neoliberalism are scattered in different theoretical, political and policy fields, covering international organizations, governments, multinational corporations and academic positions.Specifically manifested in three important aspects:laissez-faire economic policies, such as the thatcher era of Britain, the Reagan era of the United States; The use of political power, that is,capitalism changed the tripartite cooperation after the second world war by means of power to seek more interests;Global neo-colonialism,which is the governance mode in which developed countries impose their national will on developing countries in pursuit of all-round interests, such as the Washington consensus. In the process of its continuous development, neoliberalism has produced a series of problems from ideological guidance, social policy practice to the establishment of the final international order, which have attracted the attention of different countries and scholars, with some agreeing and some criticizing. It is the theory of solving the economic crisis, the proposition and theory of social development and the unique ideology of international monopoly capitalism.Neoliberalism advocates absolute individualism,laissez-faire market economy, resolute anti-state intervention, complete privatization and complete liberalism. At the same time, political distortion, economic complexity, military proliferation and ideological "anti-globalization" are brought about. This paper criticizes neoliberalism from the perspective of Robert cox.Cox thinks that the neoliberal ideology has its unique defects,it attaches importance to the market and freedom and ignores the role of the state, and the neoliberal order leads to a series of crises.Countries are the historical products of civil society, and international relations are a new type of political relations, which rely on the guidance of the world production order. He believed that in the future there would be a new free market economy,a new ontology of the world order and a role for civil society. The analysis of cox’s thought deepens our understanding of neoliberalism and provides us with new research ideas. |
