Research On Giddens’ Risk Society Theory

The highly modern society brings great convenience to human society,but also brings potential danger.Countless accidents show that we are in a risk society.A correct understanding of the possible risks in the process of social development and the relationship between social development and risks are not only the necessary basis for human production and life,but also the prerequisite for social development.Based on the existing research on Giddens and his theory of modernity,this paper makes a special study on his theory of risk society,aiming to clarify his thinking context and basic views on risk society,so as to enhance our cognition of risk society and risk problems.In view of this,this paper first expounds Giddens’ definition and distinction of risk and danger,external risk and man-made risk,and then discusses his discussion on modernity and the relationship between modernity and risk society;then combs and analyzes Giddens’ description and discussion of risk categories and risk response attitude and methods in modern society;finally,it points out Giddens’ risk society theory And then it discusses the Enlightenment of the risk society theory to us.As a kind of social form,risk society has its unique structure system,social structure and operation logic.Giddens’ theory of risk society is helpful for people to have a broader and deeper insight into our modern society,to have a more thorough understanding of the source of social risks,to deal with cognitive risks more effectively and to obtain the ability of self liberation and self redemption,and to govern the risk society by the government and social organizations,so as to reduce the impact of risks on people’s lives Injuries to life,property and psychology.However,Giddens’ theory of risk society has the color of western centralism,which is not completely in line with China’s national conditions.Giddens’ research on the causes of risk is not in-depth,and its risk response is too idealistic.Therefore,we should pay attention to the risk,especially the risk faced by China We should analyze the specific problems and draw our conclusions from facts.
