Practice Exploration On Self-realization Of The Elderly In Fuzhou Urban Community

With the continuous deepening of China’s population aging,while meeting the needs of basic elderly care,more and more elderly people in urban communities are pursuing self-actualization.Under this background,the community is the suitable soil to meet the self-fulfillment needs of the elderly.This paper takes the F Community Family Comprehensive Service Center as an example to discuss the self-fulfillment needs of the elderly in urban communities from the perspective of social work.Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and the perspective of social work,this paper uses the existing research for reference,takes the elderly in community F as the research object,comprehensively applies the methods of questionnaire survey and interview,and combines with the community elderly service project in the F Community Family Comprehensive Service Center to carry out the research.Firstly,this paper analyzes the self-realization needs of the elderly in community F from four aspects: the need for self-decision,the need for self-growth,the need to develop their abilities and the need to pursue values.Secondly,based on the Strengths Perspective,this paper makes a practical exploration on the need for social work to intervene in the self-realization of the elderly in the community.It includes various options to promote the self-decision of the elderly,providing various ways to promote the self-growth of the elderly,multi-step parallel to promote the ability of the elderly,stimulating potential to promote the pursuit of value by the elderly,integrating community resources,and meeting the needs of self-realization of the elderly in the community at different levels,so as to promote the self-realization of the elderly.Subsequently,the effectiveness of social work in promoting the self-realization of the elderly in the community was evaluated from the perspectives of the elderly,the community,other residents in the community and social workers.Finally,the author makes a summary and reflection,and puts forward corresponding suggestions,in order to provide some reference and help for the social work intervention in the elderly self-realization needs in future.
