The issue of Poverty and poverty governance have always been an important focus of global governance research. The global spread of COVID-19,which broke out at the end of 2019,has made it difficult for the cause of global poverty reduction. In view of the fact that most of the global poverty problems are rural poverty, and most of the rural poor people are in the "poverty environment" trap, this paper attempts to start from the micro perspective, through the case study of Ethiopia’s Humbo CDM forestry project,to summarize its effective experience of ecological poverty reduction,in order to provide reference for the rural poverty governance of relevant developing countries, and bring the certain implications for global poverty governance.Firstly, this paper defines the connotation of several core concepts, such as global poverty governance, rural poverty governance and ecological poverty reduction.Secondly,it analyzes the poverty situation, poverty causes and governance methods in rural Ethiopia: the poverty in Ethiopia is mainly manifested in rural poverty, which is caused by the slow transformation of national structure, the rise of food prices and the decline of farming conditions due to environmental degradation factors, family demographic characteristics and resource composition, and so on.In this regard,Ethiopian government has formulated a development driven poverty reduction strategy and implemented poverty control measures such as government poverty alleviation and social safety net.Thirdly,it makes a detailed case study of CDM forestry project in Humbo area of Ethiopia from the perspective of five governance elements. It is found that the key to the success of the project in the two aspects of environment and poverty reduction lies in the poverty reduction cooperation of multiple governance bodies, the empowerment of community rights, the innovation of poverty reduction mode and technology, and the direct participation of the poor. Finally,it is concluded that Ethiopia’s Humbo CDM forestry project has the following implications for global poverty governance: strengthening the cooperation of governance subjects in the process of global poverty governance;stimulating the endogenous power of poor people to participate in poverty reduction;improving the adaptability of governance model and poverty problem;alleviating the inherent conflict between ecology and poverty.
