As a medium embedded in the daily life of farmers, the mobile short video media represented by Kuaishou app makes the power of communication no longer exclusive to certain groups. The decentralization of the right of communication and discourse has directly led to the widespread participation of farmers in short videos Production.Relying on the mobile short video practice, the otherwise silent farmers can express themselves, they narrate life experiences from a first-person perspective,or express their views as a member of the bottom group.Narrative psychology believes that narrative itself is closely related to self-construction and is a way of self-exploration.From the perspective of narrative, this article regards the short video practice process of peasants as a narrative system.Through the “short video narrative”,the peasants constructs self-identity.First of all,the self-presentation and narrative of the peasants on the Kuaishou app meet the needs of the peasants’ pursuit of material income, mutual communication, leisure and entertainment, and realization of self-worth.Secondly,through self-presentation,farmers construct a new image of farmers that is different from the past.Farmers have formed a mediaized rural landscape by recording, reproducing, eliminating, and fictitious real rural geographic space..In this process, body narrative is the core of farmers’ self-narrative,through online body exhibitions, farmers in virtualized cyberspace construct a rural narrative system with performance, drama and continuity.Due to the influence of the separation mechanism of time and space and the invasion of consumer culture, farmers fall into the paradox of self-identification construction, they loses their personality, and their sense of self-identification weakens.By sorting out farmers’ identity crisis in the process of modernity, and combining with the interviews of farmers, this paper draws the following conclusions: farmers construct self-identity through reflection, and obtain the stability of self-identity by maintaining their authenticity. In the process of short video practice, farmers not only constructed self-identity,but also formed a greater range of self-identity including villages, village culture and the country. In short,Kuaishou app provide a platform for farmers to express themselves, construct themselves, reflect on themselves and recognize themselves. The practice of farmers integrating daily life into self-narration is the farmers’ active construction rather than passive choice. This is the main thread throughout the text.
