A Study Of Rosa Luxemburg’s Socialist Democratic Thought

Rosa Luxembourg(1871-1919)is one of the main leaders of the German Social Democratic Party in the second international period from the end of the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century.She is also an outstanding Marxist thinker,theorist and revolutionist in the history of the international communist movement.Luxembourg was born and grew up in a Jewish family in Poland.She participated in the labor movement and the proletarian revolution in Poland and Germany,and actively participated in and supported the Russian Revolution.Her special cultural background and life experience made her transcend the narrow nationalism world view,regard Europe and the world as a whole,and devote her whole life to the world proletarian revolution and liberation.She adheres to the social and political ideal of freedom and equality,at the expense of many times in prison,being criticized by political enemies and disputes behind her,and finally giving her life.In the long-term practice of the workers’ movement and the proletarian revolution,Luxembourg formed its thoughts on socialist democracy,which reflected Luxembourg’s understanding of the development of capitalism and its thinking about the essence of socialism.This paper analyzes and Studies Luxembourg’s socialist democratic thought from five parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the origin and significance of the topic,the present research situation at home and abroad,the innovation of the paper,the research methods and the related concepts.The first chapter of the text begins with Luxembourg’s life and revolutionary activities,focusing on the revolutionary activities and ideological activities in different periods and places in Luxembourg,this paper analyzes the social background and practical basis of Luxembourg’s socialist democratic thought,andalso explains the mutual construction between Luxembourg’s character,life experience and its thought formation.The second chapter analyzes the basic connotation of Luxembourg’s socialist democratic thought,which is mainly reflected in Luxembourg’s criticism of Leonard Bernstein’s Revisionism,in a debate with Vladimir Lenin over the principles of organization.In this process,Luxembourg has elaborated its views on intra-party democracy,creatively putting forward the principle of spontaneity and clarifying the meaning of the mass outlook.Luxembourg’s thinking on socialist democracy is characterized by its integrity.Socialism is a prerequisite for democracy,so it is necessary to carry out socialist revolution,and democracy is the essence of socialism,so it is necessary to uphold democracy.The third chapter discusses the limitations and influence of Luxembourg’s socialist democratic thought.In the 100 years since the death of Rosa Luxemburg,her thought has gone through ups and downs,and has brought many kinds of influences to people in different countries and camps.From the controversies caused at the beginning,the negation and criticism in the Soviet period,to the "rediscovery of Luxembourg" and the multi-angle and multi-level excavations of its thoughts in the contemporary era,Luxembourg’s thoughts have suffered more difficulties in reality than they have been understood by people,on the one hand,it is limited by its Western perspective and the limitation of over-emphasizing spontaneity,on the other hand,it embodies the over-idealization of Luxembourg’s socialist democratic thought.Luxembourg’s democratic ideas inspired the Western Marxism to explore new revolutionary paths,by looking at the problems caused by the Soviet Union’s over centralized system,it can be found that Luxembourg’s thinking is also transcendent and forward-looking.The Fourth Chapter Discusses The enlightenment of Luxembourg’s Socialist Democratic thought to modern China,combines the theory and practice of socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics,and makes a reverse thinking of Luxembourg’s relevant thought,and deeply excavate the achievements and problems of the contemporary Chinese Democracy Movement,seek corresponding scientific reference from Luxembourg’s socialist democratic thought,strengthen the construction of the ruling party,and constantly improve the socialist democratic system with Chinese characteristics,developing Socialist Democratic Culture.
