Research On The Construction And External Communication Of Collective Memory In The War Of Resistance Against Japan

In recent years,the neglect of the history of the War of Resistance against Japan under historical nihilism has gradually become the focus of attention,especially in the international community,where the memory of China’s War of Resistance against Japan is a memory based on prejudice.Compared with other wars that also took place in the second World War,the War of Resistance against Japan was obviously ignored.In addition,the anti-narrative of Japanese rightist also impacted the memory of the history of China’s War of Resistance against Japan.In view of this background,this paper studies the way to better spread the memory of the Anti-Japanese War.Collective memory is the reconstruction of the past.It is a kind of symbol system whose inheritance is inseparable from the bearing medium.People’s Daily(overseas edition)is a "propaganda tool" for the party and the state to spread to the outside world.This paper takes People’s Daily(overseas edition)as the research object and collates all the news reports about the War of Resistance against Japan published in the newspaper from 1985 to 2018.A certain number of samples are selected by systematic sampling and random sampling,and the samples are analyzed from the macro and micro point of view by content analysis.By using content analysis method,this paper makes a statistical analysis on the number,genre and layout of reports from a macro point of view,and makes a micro-detailed study on the theme,narrative perspective,memory places and memory-bearing groups involved.metaphors the ideology of the media and the "mimicry environment" created by it,so as to explore the communication strategy of People’s Daily(overseas edition).On this basis,the paper analyzes what kind of news reports People’s Daily(overseas edition)use to construct the collective memory of the War of Resistance against Japan among the state media.According to the results of the analysis,the reasons for its construction is explored and it is considered to be influenced by both domestic and international environments.Three suggestions are put forward in order to better spread China’s memories of the Anti-Japanese War to the outside world.Through the analysis and study of the paper,we can see that People’s Daily(overseas edition),as a political party newspaper for overseas Chinese,overseas students and people from other countries,is different from other political party newspapers and periodicals in constructing the memory of the Anti-Japanese War.Only by grasping its special role and making full use of its advantages to improve its shortcomings,can we break through the predicament and achieve satisfactory publicity results.
