| Marriage payment is a mirror of social life,which reflects people’s ideology and social and cultural life in a certain period.This paper studied the content and cultural connotation of marriage payment of the miao people in the baijin branch from 1950 to 2019 and discusses the profound influence of development of times on the living area of the Miao people in baijin branch.The paper first explain the origin and significance of the research,the methods of relevant research and the definition of the concept,and the relevant research was sorted ou.At the same time,it introduces the origin,customs,marriage and family of the Miao people in detail.Secondly,this paper takes three historical periods from the 1950 s to the early 1980 s,the 1980 s to the early 21 st century,and the early 21 st century to the present as the main line,and presents the historical evolution of the marriage payment custom of the miao people in the baijin branch through comparative analysis.This paper summarizes the changes of marriage payment of the miao people in the yaojin branch.Second,the marriage payment from the object to money and object coexist;Third,personalized payment content,pay more attention to emotional payment.Fourth,marriage payment from single to rich marriage payment,market-oriented influence increases;Fifthly,marriage payment focuses on the use value of goods to the value of goods.Finally,the article mainly discusses the reasons that lead to the change of marriage payment.The reasons of the change of marriage payment are summarized as following: the first is the development of social economy,which further promotes the change of marriage payment due to the acceleration of social mobility,occupational differentiation,the rise of women’s status and the change of people’s idea.The second is the transformation of family structure.As the reduction of family scale,which enhanced parental support in marriage payments.In the family relations,the life style of the united family after marriage and the brotherly relationship of "succession" and "union" after dividing up family property and live apart,which make the high bride price and a large dowry lack the soil for growth.But the rise was controlled in a certain range.The third is the change of the system.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the policies of anti-hegemonism,reducing the rents and withdrawal of the people’s right to fight back helped the local miao people to get rid of the feudal exploitative relations.As a result of the people’s communization,the custom of sitting at home after marriage of the Miao people in the Baijin branch gradually disappeared,and the bride price and dowry became popular.With improving of reform and opening-up policy,the implementation of the family planning policy and the continuous improvement of the education system,people’s income has increased,the population has decreased,and the education level has been generally improved,which has further promoted the growth and marketization of marriage payment as well as the rise of children’s power,and many people paid more attention to personal feelings.Fourth,ecommerce and mass media have an effect on people’s perception of the need to pay,buying motivators,purchasing cost,buying decisions.Miao’s consumption idea and behavior change accordingly.To some extent,it promotes marriage pay marketization and shift from the focus on the practical value to the symbol value. |
