View Japan’s Diplomacy In The Current From The Perspective Of Pragamatism Culture

In Japan’s foreign policy decisions and diplomatic practice,pragmatism culture has an effect on Japan’s diplomatic activities directly or indirectly through influencing the psychology of the decision maker.Especially in the 21st century,facing the difficult situation both inside and outside,Japan’s diplomatic environment has undergone profound changes.Furthermore,under the pragmatism culture influence,Japan has shown more intense political purpose in its foreign policy decisions and international exchanges.This paper first summarizes the main features of Japan’s pragmatism culture.Its main cultures are:focusing on Pragmatic,pursing utilitarian,even doing bad things for the sake of its interests;advocating instrumentalist,and striving to become a member of the strong group;promoting relativism,flexible but easy to go to extremism.Secondly,taking Abe foreign policy as an example,this paper analyses the performance of pragmatism cultural characteristics on Japanese economy,politics and defense security in the current.Utilitarianism performance are:politically,on one hand,Japan deny the history of aggression,seek the return of a normal country;on the one hand they talk about international contribution,in fact,they are looking for political power position in the United Nations stage.And in the relations with China,on one hand it launched "values diplomacy" to build strategic encirclement with China,intending to dominate the Asia-Pacific,on the other hand it carried out "active diplomacy" with the United States aimed at the support of the United States of its sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands.In economic aspect,it is keen on energy diplomacy,government development support for other countries aimed at getting rid of the economic difficulties after the crisis times,with very intense purpose of getting more economic benefits.In safety defense,it focused on China defense,intended to dominate Asia-Pacific area.Instrumentalism performance are the followings:strengthening the Japan-US alliance,using the United States forces to develop its own political,economic,and security defense capability;putting more emphasis on Asia(especially with China)diplomacy to regain the trust of Asian countries and seek hegemony in the Asia-Pacific area.Opportunism performance are the followings:catching every diplomatic opportunity to reap more benefits;good a adjusting its foreign policy according to the changing situation at home and abroad as well as its ability positioning,it always shows its ambiguous and unprincipled attitude.Revealing the deep roots of the Japanese pragmatism diplomatic policy,we found out that Japanese have a entrenched sense of Island psychology and crisis,we learned that Japanese pragmatism diplomatic is not come from a leader of a unique era,but come from a deep-rooted culture origin.Meanwhile,the pragmatism diplomatic policy has both positive and negative roles.When we are dealing with Japan,in addition to grasping the opportunities to develop ourselves,we should be highly vigilant of the extreme foreign policy under the influence of pragmatism cultural in Japan.Therefore,this paper finally made several strategies about how to deal with the challenges of the Japan pragmatism diplomatic policy the current:Outlawing the crimes of Japan in World War Ⅱ around the worldwide;do not hesitate to take firm economic sanctions toward Japan;Timely showing our strength(especially the defense forces)to suppress Japan’s attempts to revive the militarism;strengthen the actual jurisdiction of the disputed sea area;Using strategies to deal with the foreign policy challenges from Japan;what Japan needs is an eye for an eye,attacking the military threat from Japan’s right-wing with force.
