| Chung-shu Ch’ien is a famous writer and scholar in China.His works are erudite and profound.This paper focuses on his Art Theory.It is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is a background study,which briefly describes Chung-shu Ch’ien’s life stories related to Art.on the one hand,it briefly combs his drawing.On the other hand,it makes a brief examination of his friends in the Art world.We can learn the profile of Chung-shu Ch’ien’s experience about seeking distraction in the Art from these two aspects.The second and third chapters are the main part of the paper.The second chapter focuses on Chung-shu Ch’ien’s combing and interpretation of traditional Art Theory.Chung-shu Ch’ien creates a new understanding about “Six Theories of Xie He”,especially on the meaning and flowing deformation of “Energy and to overhear the understood”.He also clarifies “something beyond the sphere of composition”,and makes a psychological interpretation of it.The third chapter focuses on comparison of the Chinese and Western Art Theory and the categories of Art by Chung-shu Ch’ien.Chung-shu Ch’ien compared the phenomenon of “various landscapes from walls splashed with a number of stains or stones of various mixed colours” between China and the West.In his view,the similarity of this phenomenon between China and the West is because of the same psychological factors instead of inheriting.He also compared poetry and painting.On the one hand,he added to G.E.Lessing’s view that the expressive ability of poetry is broader than that of painting from the perspective of Aesthetics.On the other hand,he points out the differences in the authentic style of traditional Chinese poetry and paintings from the perspective of the history of literary criticism.The conclusion of the method and tendency of Chung-shu Ch’ien’s Art Theory can be found in the fourth chapter.Chung-shu Ch’ien presents a kind of Phenomenology discourse space by a large number of examples.His Art Theory always uses the dialectical thinking.In the comparison between China and the West,he tends to Chinese.For poetry and painting,he tends to focus on poetry.In terms of Aesthetic taste,he prefers “to overhear the understood”,especially.In addition,Chung-shu Ch’ien’s Art Theory is characterized by anti-system,so some Art Theory,which is unsuitable for text,is compiled in the form of notes as an appendix. |
