This translation practice project selects the introduction and part of Chapter 10 of Museum Theory by Andrea Witcomb and Kylie Message as the source language text. The text is rich in sentence patterns and contains a large number of passive sentences, attributive clauses and long and difficult sentences. The content is advanced, and it is informative text. This translation practice report first introduces the translation tasks, and analyzes the characteristics and difficulties of the source language. The translator records the whole process of the translation practice project, introduces the theoretical basis--Skopos Theory of translation, and makes an in-depth case analysis under the guidance of Skopos Theory. Finally,it summarizes the problems, gains and reflections in translation practice.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the translator applies three principles, namely,Skopos Rule,Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule to effectively eliminate language differences.Combined with translation practice, the translator uses translation techniques such as amplification and omission, reorganization, conversion, division and inversion to deal with specific problems such as sentence and word meaning and professional information fit.The translator hopes that this translation practice can provide corresponding translation strategies and valuable reference for the future translation of museum related topics, and can also contribute to the introduction of foreign advanced academic achievements in the field of Museology.
