Research On The Binding Design Of Art＆Life

Arts＆Life is one of the few comprehensive photographic pictorials in the period of the Republic of China.It was published in Shanghai Sany printing company.It has the characteristics of rich content,excellent materials,novel arrangement and excellent printing.It is also known as the "only art magazine in China".It covers Chinese and Western painting,printmaking,sculpture,photography,film,design and so on.As an art magazine popular all over the country at that time,its binding design was closely related to the times and had an important impact on China at that time and modern times.The research on the binding design of Arts＆Life is still blank in the academic circles.Therefore,this paper through the retrieval of historical materials takes the binding design of art life as the starting point tries to sort out the binding design value of Arts＆Life,in order to contribute to the research on the binding design of art journals in the Republic of China.The changes of cultural thoughts brought about by the rise of the new culture movement the spread of new ideas led to the development of publishing industry,printing industry and the introduction of western aesthetic ideas have brought benign development to binding design in the period of the Republic of China.Based on this background,this paper analyzes it from the perspective of design,Starting from the formal language of the binding design of Arts＆Life,this paper analyzes the artistic appearance of Arts＆Life under the social background of the Republic of China,that is,the cover design characteristics of the combination of China and the west,the selection of various types of illustrations in art forms,the font form design of the coexistence of print and art,the interesting and vivid advertising creative design and its original printing technology,This paper explores the aesthetic characteristics of inheriting traditional culture and integrating Chinese and Western art embodied in the binding design of Arts＆Life,the humanistic characteristics with the purpose of saving the nation from subjugation and survival,breaking the estrangement between management and the public,and the characteristics of the times showing the modernization of binding design style and concept.This paper discusses the pioneering role of the binding design of art life in the development and reform of modern binding design,systematically and clearly sort out the Enlightenment of the binding design of Arts＆Life to modern binding design.
