The book Lao Tzu discussed “Nature” as a philosophical concept for the first time, but because of its little description of “Nature”,The meaning of “Nature” is still controversial. The paper focuses on the relationship between “Nature” and the core concepts of Tao,Existence,Nihility and Inaction in Lao Tzu’s philosophy, and discusses the differences in the connotation of“Nature” between “Tao follows to Nature” and “Beings have self Nature”.Based on the different annotations of He Shanggong and Wang Bi on “Tao follows to Nature”,the specific analysis is as follows:Starting from the relationship between Tao and “Existence” and “Nihility”,this paper tries to demonstrate the dual attributes of Tao in ontology and generationism.Describing Tao in ontology,Tao is “Nihility”,which is “metaphysical ontology”;In terms of generationism,Tao is “Existence”and “the noumenon of life”.Thus,“Tao "" contains the two meanings of “metaphysical ontology”and “the noumenon of life”,Then “Tao gives birth to all things ”with reason to rely on.Therefore, the role of “Nature” between Tao and Beings needs to be redefined. Then, the paper divide “Nature”into “Zi(自)”and “Ran(然)”to sort out the literal and theoretical significance. The noumenon and generative attribute of “zi(自)” and the empirical phenomenon unified by “Ran” are the another expression of “Tao generates Beings”.“Nature”links the relationship between Tao and Beings, and the contradiction between “Tao generates Beings”and “Beings generate themselves” is also resolved. The autonomy of “Beings” originates from the operation mode of “nature” of Tao.At the same time, because of the “nature”of Beings,Tao shows the dual ontological meaning of both metaphysical and generative, which is higher than and inherent in Beings. Finally,“Nature” and “Inaction” show a causal relationship.“Inaction”as a later behavior measure, aims to maintain the Tao’s character, which hiding in Beings, that is,“Nature ”.
