The background of war exile in the 1940 s not only caused the realistic survival dilemma of losing home and country,but also made people’s spiritual struggle more serious.As a writer with unique personality and talent in modern Chinese literature,Lu Ling always believes that literature can only achieve the function of social recognition through "the development of characters’ inner world".So he focused on grasping the social and historical complexity and the demands of The Times from the perspective of spiritual analysis.Through tracing the origin of spirit,it presents the complex state of mutual involvement between historical tradition and realistic requirements,personal will and overall direction of society,material slavery and spiritual slavery,and then tries to point out the direction for the construction of sound personality.In addition to the existential worries of the national entity,the road to national salvation is explored from the perspective of national character progress and development.Taking this as the starting point,this paper discusses lu Ling’s spiritual dilemma writing in his novels in the 1940 s through specific text analysis,so as to understand his literary thoughts and rediscover their value.The paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter mainly analysis the cause of the spiritual predicament soul.Lu Ling’s novels in the 1940 s show a distinctive color of The Times.To explore the reasons for his writing from the perspective of spiritual dilemma,we must analyze him on the basis of the interaction between him and the specific context.It mainly includes three aspects:The personal traumatic experience brought by the existential dilemma、The creative dilemma in the context of political culture during the war in the Kuomintang-controlled area 、 The ideological divergence between literary and artistic creation in revolutionary literature.The mental pain that constituted Lu ling’s exploration in the 1940 s also became the starting point of her social and structural novels.The second chapter analyzes the ideological implications of her writing of spiritual dilemma from three representative figures: Lu Ling writes the difficult adjustment between the intellectual’s individual consciousness and the call of collectivism of The Times The struggle of the citizen class between the new and the old value construction reflects the spiritual dilemma of the people of all classes in modern China at the turning stage,thus inspiring people to correct the deficiency in their thoughts and make efforts to reshape the sound personality.The third chapter analyzes the aesthetic characteristics of Lu Ling’s writing of spiritual dilemma.The aesthetic struggle in form is matched with the content,which is mainly reflected in three aspects: the unconventional defamiliarization language,focus on the psychological description of psychoanalysis and the subjective image construction.The fourth chapter reconsiders the deficiency and value of lu Ling’s writing of spiritual dilemma.At the 40 s novel creation both its pioneering and progressive aspect,such as cultural reflection of the cross time significance,and there is a new literary exploration: born struggles to understand novel of the language of trouble For the shaping of national spirit depends on the finiteness of abstract power However,as Qian Liqun said,the gains and losses of Lu Ling’s exploration are a valuable treasure in the history of modern Chinese literature.
