Translation Practice Report-A Case Study On E-C Translation Of Vl Boiler Base Series Convection Steamers’ Service Manual

At present,under global integration,the exchanges between Chinese and foreign manufacturing industries are becoming more and more frequent,and the import and export trade of machinery and equipment is booming.In order to make domestic users better understand the performance of the equipment and be familiar with the operation of the equipment,the translation of the service manual becomes necessary.This paper takes the translation of the VL BOILER BASE SERIES CONVECTION STEAMERS’ Service Manual as an example to explore the text features and translation strategies of the service manual.This translation practice report is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction of the translation project,which mainly introduces the background and significance of the project.The second part is the process of translation project,including preparation before translation,process during translation and post translation adjustment.The third part is the case study,which mainly analyzes the translation of vocabulary,syntax and charts.In lexical level,this paper discusses the translation strategies of abbreviations,professional terms and noun phrases.In syntactic level,this paper discusses the translation methods of passive sentences,imperative sentences and conditional sentences.In addition,this paper discusses the translation principles of chart translation.Literal translation,zero translation,mixed translation,linear translation,reverse translation and other translation methods are adopted.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the practice in this translation project,and provides reference for future translation practice.
