As a reflection of social,political,economic and cultural aspects,the naming and renaming process of geographical names carries certain linguistic aspects,geographical features,economic values,historical states,cultural psychology,living environment and other information.Zhengzhou,Luoyang and Kaifeng are in the center of political,economic and cultural exchanges,and are rich in toponymic resources.The sociolinguistic investigation and research on them will not only enrich the systematic sociolinguistic research on the county names of Zhengzhou,Luoyang and Kaifeng to some degree,but also have a very positive contribution in promoting the study of prefectural names from a sociolinguistic perspective,deepening the understanding of the construction of geographical names in the three places,and completing the reference value of other disciplines.There are 202 county names in Zhengzhou,Luoyang and Kaifeng.Based on these202 names,this article examines and analyzes the linguistic structure,naming rationale,and horizontal and vertical comparative analysis of Zhengzhou,Luoyang,and Kaifeng from the perspective of sociolinguistics,which triggers certain thoughts and puts forward relevant suggestions.The article is split into four main sections as below:The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the current status of toponymic research and the status of county-level toponymic research in Zhengzhou,Luoyang,and Kaifeng,identifies the subject of the study,defines the scope of the study,describes the methodology,and explains the significance of the study.The second chapter summarizes and analyzes the syllabic structure and morphemic structure,and rhetorical style of 202 county names in Zhengzhou,Luoyang and Kaifeng from the perspective of linguistics.Chapter 3 systematically introduces the naming basis of the county names of Zhengzhou,Luoyang and Kaifeng.Horizontally,the distribution characteristics of the existing 35 county names are summarized;vertically,the patterns and reasons for the evolution of all the county names in the old and modern times are summarized.It reveals the naming characteristics of the county names,triggers the consideration of the lost county names,and puts forward relevant suggestions.Chapter 4 is the concluding remarks.It summaries previous research and briefly describes the drawbacks of the paper,and looks forward to the parts that can continue to further advance the research. |
