| In 1983,American psychology professor Howard Gardner put forward the theory of multiple intelligences.The theory points out that everyone has eight kinds of intelligence,but the development level of each kind of intelligence is different.The core point of this theory in education is to pay attention to the development of individual multiple intelligences,respect the individual differences between students,and emphasize that teachers should design teaching activities according to the level of students’ intellectual development in teaching.The core view of this theory is consistent with the national advocacy of “facing all students,fully considering the individual differences of language learners and promoting the all-round development of students”.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the teaching activities of English reading in junior middle school under the guidance of multiple intelligences theory.In this study,the author conducted a four-month teaching experiment in Zunyi Hang Tian Middle School Heng Da Branch,and selected a total of 98 students in two classes of Grade 8 as the research subject of the teaching experiment,of which class 10 is the control class,teaching with the traditional teaching method,and class 6 is the experimental class,teaching with the teaching activities under the guidance of multiple intelligences theory.The whole research is carried out from the following two research questions:(1)What is the effect of English reading teaching activities based on multiple intelligences theory on students’ reading interest?(2)What is the effect of English reading teaching activities based on multiple intelligences theory on students’ reading performance?In the teaching experiment,the author uses the research methods of test and questionnaires to obtain the research data,and uses SPSS 26 software to analyze data.After the experiment,the author also conducted individual interviews with 6 students in the experimental class.The results show that the English reading performance of the experimental class is higher than that of the control class,which also stimulates the students’ interest in reading to a certain extent.Therefore,the English reading teaching activities designed under the guidance of multiple intelligences theory have a positive effect on the students’ English reading interest and English reading ability in the experimental class. |
