This paper takes the authenticity of the individual image as the starting point for research. The individual image has been a subject of attention from the beginning of photography to contemporary photography. The pursuit of the "I" value of its authenticity has been enhanced with the transformation of the contemporary photographic ecology. This is closely related to the open, egalitarian and inclusive ecosystem of contemporary photography, where artists are not bound by a single approach and traditional values in their creation. As a result,a large number of artists have emerged, including Nan Goldin,Wolfgang Tillmans,Cindy Sherman and other artists. The value of the individual’s true "I" identity they address is broad and closely related to the audience, such as the issue of women’s rights, the collision of subculture and mass culture, the boundary between fashion and pure art,the struggle and breakthrough of the individual, and so on.This paper discusses four main issues: 1.the origin of the core concepts of individual image authenticity in contemporary photography;2.the basic forms of creation adopted by artists in contemporary photography in response to this topic;3.the specific ways of transformation of individual image authenticity in contemporary photography;and 4.the challenges and dilemmas encountered in the creation of individual image authenticity in the context of contemporary photography.
