Chinese people living in rural society attach great importance to the ethics of blood and have a strong clan concept.Even in modern society, traditional clans have disappeared, but people still attach great importance to the interaction within blood relatives in daily life.In historical development, clan culture is regional.Although there is no large-scale clan in North China like that in South China, people still maintain a strong clan concept in their hearts, which is reflected in different historical periods, and can play an active role. This article takes Wuzhangtun Village,an ordinary village in my hometown of Guantao County,Hebei Province,as an example to explore whether clans exist in the lives of ordinary people? What are the characteristics? Will it change over time? What kind of help can clans provide in life today? In the text, this article attempts to conduct a dialogue analysis with the South China clan theory. This paper mainly uses the method of field investigation and literature to analyze its function and significance on the basis of sorting out the main forms of the Wu clan in different historical periods. From the overall structure point of view, the full text is mainly divided into four parts. The first chapter is to introduce the geographical environment and social culture of Wuzhangtun Village where the Wu clan survives, analyze the formation process of the Wu clan and the objective reasons why it is difficult to develop into a large-scale clan.Chapters 2 to 4 are the core parts of this paper, unfolding in chronological order, respectively presenting the basic forms and functions of the Wu clan in different historical periods.First of all, during the period of the Republic of China, the Wu clan had public-run clan fields, genealogies that recorded clan lineage, patriarchs who maintained clan order,as well as collective worship during the Spring Festival and daily mutual aid activities. It was a substantial clan with complete organizational elements.Secondly,in the middle of the 20 th century, under the influence of the external environment, clan fields and ancestral tombs were brought into collectives, festival worship activities were restricted, and family cooperation became collective labor. At this time, the Wu clan has been dismantled and attacked multiple times, but the clan concept in the heart of the clan has always been maintained.By secretly paying New Year’s greetings, naming names according to characters, etc.,the identity of the blood ethics is maintained. This article will be this period. The Wu clan is called the clan of ideas. Finally, since the 1980 s,with the relaxation of the social environment, the Wu clan people began to slowly resume clan activities. There are not only continuations of traditions, such as rebuilding genealogy lists,New Year greetings during the Spring Festival, etc.,but also innovations, such as the patriarch becoming the symbol of the family, and the strengthening of marriage and funeral etiquette among the clansmen. In general, for decades, the Wu clan still uses traditional clan concepts and adapts them to serve the current daily life. The existence of clan makes rural life more ceremonial and emotional. Therefore, this article calls the clan of this period the ceremonial clan.In the historical development, the Wu clan has continuously adjusted itself according to the actual social life, the external objects disappeared and rebuilt, and the clan form changed from entity to concept to etiquette, and the clan showed strong vitality and social adaptability. The blood community is an important resource for the Wu clan people living in rural society to live on and maintain social relations, and it is also an important emotional support for them.
