Yuan Family Education And Local Social Education In The Song Dynasty

This paper takes Yuan Cai’s Yuan Family Education of the Southern Song Dynasty as the main object of study,analyzes the relevant content of Yuan Family Education’s self-cultivation and family management,discusses the norms of local officials,the promotion of local education in the Song Dynasty and the significance of The Times.The full tex t consists of four parts:Part one:Overview of the advancement of local social indoctrination during the Song Dynasty and the origin of th e compilation of the Yuan Family Education.Local social indoctrination continued to develop during the Song Dynasty,an d local officials had the responsibility of indoctrinating one side.Yuan Cai,as a local official during the Southern Song Dynasty,wrote the book Yuan Family Education with the intention of governing small families to preach local edification,The purpose of this chapter is to explain the historical background,analyze the origin and briefly analyze the circulation of Yuan Family Education when Yuan Cai was serving in the local government,and lay the foundation for the following analysis.Part two:Yuan Family Education’s style and pri mary coverage.It is divided into three parts,namely,harmony among relatives,dealing with oneself,and governing the family,which respectively elaborate on the matters of getting along with each other within the family,the rules of interpersonal communication for cultivating oneself and dealing with others,and the ways and means for home safety,family management,and the handling of litigation and disputes.Part three:The Yuan Family Education and the Advancement of Local Training and Customary Initiatives in the Song Dynasty,Local indoctrination continued to advan ce during the Song Dynasty,and from the Northern Song period onward,local training and oracular texts emerged.The Yuan Family Education,which was compiled and issued by Yuan Cai,a local official,was the development of the Song dynasty’s local training initiatives in the areas of self-cultivation und family management.Part four:The significance of Yuan Family Education for the times.The Yuan Family Education was an important text for the local training of customs in the Song Dynasty,which aimed at regulating the method of governing the family of the common people and the scholarly class for the purpose of educating the society.It had an impact on the time an d later generations.Through the above discussion,we can have a dear understanding of the origin and main contents of Yuan F amily Education;taking the Yuan Family Education as an entry point,we can see the characteristics of the Song dymnsty’s ttraining and secularization initiatives and also understand the development of the Song dynasty’s local education.
