Study On The Harmony Technique Of Li Yinghai’s 50 Short Piano Pieces Recomposed Using Chinese Folk Songs

Li Yinghai is a famous composer,music theorist and music educator in China in the 20th century.The piano music collection "50 Short Piano Pieces Recomposed Using Chinese Folk Songs" was published in 1957.This piano collection is a pioneering practice made by Li Yinghai on how to match the melody of folk songs with appropriate harmony.At the same time,the piano collection is also one of Li Yinghai’s representative works in the period of style transformation.Through the research on the harmony techniques of the collection,this paper summarizes Li Yinghai’s unique harmony techniques and creative ideas.The article is divided into five parts: the first part is the induction and summary of the middle note and the harmonic technique in the work based on the analysis of fifty folk songs and piano pieces.They are the use of functional harmony,the use of color harmony and the stylization of mode synthesis;The second part is the processing method of the partial tone and chord outside tone of "50 Short Piano Pieces Recomposed Using Chinese Folk Songs".The third part is the relationship between the mode harmony and the voice part of the fifty folk songs for piano,which is expounded from two aspects: the progressive relationship of the multi voice part and the structural type of the multi voice part.The fourth part is the harmony techniques of different structures and parts of the piano collection.On the basis of the above four parts,the fifth part traces the origin of the formation path of Li Yinghai mode harmony theory.The conclusion summarizes the characteristics of Li Yinghai’s harmony techniques,that is,the complementary "functional" and "color" harmony,and pays attention to the application of linear thinking harmony.It also summarizes the creative way of Li Yinghai’s overall conception and the creative idea of closely combining creative practice with academic research.
