With the development of economy and the spread of culture,the process of internationalization of higher education is accelerating,and the number of Chinese students studying abroad is rising steadily.In the past two years,influenced by the COVID-19,overseas universities,especially in Southeast Asian countries,have adopted online teaching format to ensure the normal operation of teaching activities while safeguarding students’ safety.The shift from traditional offline teaching to online teaching has increased the demand for online class interpreters in the market,providing more employment opportunities for interpreters and enriching the research of interpreting activities in the field of education.In July 2021,the author received an online interpreting task in which worked as a consecutive interpreter in a Ph D course in Business Administration,entitled“Corporate Social Responsibility”.The report makes a detailed analysis and summary of the lecture and Q&A part of the classroom interpreting.Firstly,it analyzes the deficiencies and causes that occurred during the interpreting process through examples,including the influence of accent,improper energy distribution,logical confusion,lack of background knowledge and eye contact,etc.Secondly,it discusses how to flexibly deal with the difficult points in interpreting by adopting interpreting strategies such as addition,omission and paraphrasing to achieve better output.In addition,it reflects on and summarizes this interpreting practice and puts forward relevant suggestions to help the author improve her interpreting ability.The significance of this practice report is that,through the analysis of this online class interpreting,it will lay an important foundation for the author’s future interpreting study and provide effective reference for future interpreting practice.
