| This report is based on E-C translation practice of the novel Brave Girl,Quiet Girl by Catherine Ryan Hyde,an American bestseller. The novel tells the story of a single mother whose child is lost in an accident and is picked up and returned by a homeless girl,Molly. In the end the two are brought together by the accident and become a family. The whole story shows the warmth of humanity. The novel which was published on 18 May 2020 and no Chinese translation has been published yet.The translator chooses Professor Hu Gengshen’s three-dimensional transformation theory in Eco-translatology as the guiding theory, and made adaptive selections of the translated text from three dimensions: linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension,so that the translated text is more in line with the ecological environment of the target language on the basis of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance. In the translation process, the translator adopted the methods of part-of-speech conversion,active-passive conversion and subject\topic prominent conversion to realize the adaptive selection in language dimension, literal translation, transliteration with explanation and four-character words to realize the adaptive selection in cultural dimension, and transformation of mood, adjustment of logical order and textual cohesion to realize the adaptive selection in communicative dimension. The translator has tried to solve the problems encountered in the translation process by applying the three-dimensional transformation theory in this translation practice,so this translation practice has some significance for the translation of novels in expressive texts. |
