Taking Li Ufan As An Example ——On The Re-understanding Of White Space Aesthetics

As an important expression method in traditional Chinese painting,"white space" is one of the most important constituent elements in Chinese landscape painting,and it is also an indispensable part of the black and white system in ink painting.The use of "blank" shows the clouds,mountains and mists in the landscape painting well,providing various possibilities for the space and layout of the picture,thus reflecting the unique aesthetic form of landscape painting.So what is the expression of "blank" in the contemporary context? Throughout the development and evolution of art history,we can clearly find that "blank" as a painting technique is constantly approaching maturity.With the rise of Western conceptual art and the continuous advancement of image psychology,"blank" at this time is It is no longer limited to the meaning of painting techniques,but more to express a certain concept,which is also a higher level of development and advancement of the "white space" aesthetics.Li Ufan is one of the representative artists of Japan’s "Mono School".The theory of "Yubai" he put forward is the inheritance and development of the "blank" aesthetics.He is based on the "blank" aesthetics in traditional Chinese painting,and at the same time he On this basis,he integrates Chinese Taoist thought to propose a higher level of aesthetic meaning,and applies it to his paintings and sculptures,providing a new window for discovery of the role and meaning of "blank" aesthetics in the contemporary context.In this regard,this article will take Lee Ufan as a case study to explore a new understanding of the aesthetics of "white space".This article is mainly divided into four parts.First,it briefly discusses the origin of the aesthetics of "Leave Blank" from the thoughts of "Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism" in China,and then analyzes the aesthetics of "Leave Blank" by citing examples of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy.form of expression as the basis for the study.Secondly,I will introduce the cultural background and theoretical basis of Li Ufan,and through the research and understanding of his works,we will understand Li Ufan’s new judgment on the aesthetics of "white space" from various aspects.Once again,based on the case study of Li Ufan in the previous article,I conclude the re-understanding of the aesthetics of "white space",which are the re-understanding of time,the re-understanding of space,and the re-understanding of painting works.Finally,based on the above research and my own creation,I will talk about the influence of this "re-understanding" on my personal creation in the process of my creation.
