"Blank Is All"

Any art is the form of image thinking that derived from particular time and space. Different concepts of space reflects the different ways of thinking and world outlook. And the performance of space in art works is the key step in artistic creation. "Blank" and the reality, while one is false, the other is implicit, one is hidden, the other is obvious. They influence each other. Which widen the aesthetic space of artistic works and form a huge artistic tension . "Blank" , as a unique characteristic for a performance of space, is widely used in various types of arts, and it play role in works by many factors. This paper analyzes the phenomenon of widely using "Blank" in traditional Chinese art, Western art, contemporary Chinese art, calligraphy, Chinese painting, landscaping, sculpture merely from the perspective of space performance. Which produce the "Blank" has following functions: 1, the space imagination; 2, the syndrome actual situation; 3, the construction of pace; 4, strengthening the main body. And discuss the significance of "Blank" in contemporary art based on it.
