Hegel believes: "The creative desire to satisfy the need for freedom of the mind is the fundamental and inevitable origin of art and all behaviors and knowledge." In China’s long and splendid art history,it is not difficult to observe that the Paleolithic period has a great influence on the shape of stone tools.From the carving and polishing to the production of various patterns of painted pottery in the Neolithic period,when human beings began to perceive themselves or their ego,they began to produce artistic expressions.This awareness is the origin of primitive signs and a key link in the occurrence of art.Chinese ink and wash painting keeps pace with the times.During this period,it constantly innovated painting techniques and themes.While absorbing foreign cultures,it also maintained its own form,technique and characteristics,so as to satisfy people’s needs on the basis of not being assimilated.Aesthetic pursuits in different eras.Since the birth of ink figure painting,it has been accompanied by the interweaving and interaction of many external forces such as social environment,cultural schools,and political atmosphere.The expression form of ink painting is shaped by various external forces,and the signs and language it shows are also a portrayal of the characteristics of the times.This article will interpret the use of signs and images in ink figures from the perspective of sign theory.
