A Research On The Nominal Diminutive Of Xiang Dialect

Diminutive is a grammatical category that expresses the "small" or "less" of things through certain grammatical means.It is a prominent category in Chinese dialects.Diminutive is a grammatical category that expresses "small" or "less" through certain grammatical means,and it is a prominent category in Chinese dialects.This paper takes the nominal diminutive of Xiang dialect as the research object,and makes an objective and systematic arrangement and analysis of the nominal nouns of Xiang dialect by means of descriptive analysis,literature research,comparative analysis and inductive summary.The research shows that the supplementary diminutive is the main expression form of the nominal diminutive in Xiang dialect,and the affixed diminutive is the most widely used.The nominal diminutive in Xiang dialect can express objective and subjective quantities.From the perspective of lexical function,the nominal diminutive in Xiang dialect can form new words,distinguish word meanings and name materialization.From the perspective of pragmatic functions,the nominal diminutive in the Xiang dialect can also express emotional colors such as affection,intimacy,hatred,and banter.The nominal diminutive of the Xiang dialect originates from the concept of "children" and the characteristics of children’s language use,and there is a successive relationship between weakening and renewal in development.Apart from the introduction and conclusion,the article is divided into four chapters.The introduction part mainly summarizes the research background and significance,research status,research methods and corpus sources of the writing of this paper.The first chapter gives an overall overview of the nominal diminutive in Xiang dialect,which can be divided into three types: additive,overlapping and mixed.The second chapter specifically describes and sorts out the types and distribution of the nominal diminutive in Xiang dialect.The third chapter discusses the function of the nominal diminutive in Xiang dialect.The fourth chapter explores the origin and development of the nominal diminutive in Xiang dialect.The conclusion part summarizes the nominal diminutive of the Xiang dialect,points out the insufficiency of the article and the focus of future research.
