On "southern Thought" In Camus’ The Rebel | | Posted on:2022-12-02 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:M D Yang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2505306749978019 | Subject:Japanese Language and Literature | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | As an existentialist writer and philosopher,Albert Camus is a unique presence in the French literary world.Camus was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957 for his profound and clear exploration of contemporary human destiny.His discussion of "absurd philosophy",his insistence on "resistance" poetics and his advocacy of "southern thought" are inseparable from his sincere love for life and concern for the ultimate fate of human beings.In his essay collection The Rebel,Camus made a deep discussion of various forms of rebellion,pointed out that both creation and revolution should return to the origin of rebellion,and advocated to define the scope of rebellion and establish a new humanitarian thought based on human values,namely "Southern thought".This is a thought based on the principles of moderation and balance in ancient Greek thought,which is different from the northern thought marked by German classical philosophy that pays attention to abstract speculation.It is also the reason why Camus called his pursuit of the thought "southern thought".Through this thought,Camus tried to guide people to love nature and life,respect humanity and unite to resist nihilism and violence.This paper will take the "Southern thought" conveyed in The Rebel as the research object,aiming at a systematic and comprehensive exploration of Camus’ s "Southern thought".The first chapter analyzes the background of the formation of "Southern thought" in The Rebel from two aspects of turbulent and violent times and profound ideological origins,paving the way for further clarifying the content of "Southern thought".The second chapter explains the main contents of the "Southern thought" in The Rebel,including respect(not being an outsider to the world)、 balance(philosophical thinking of "excess" and "less than")、unity("fighting" for human happiness),and deeply analyzes the humanitarian spirit contained in the "Southern thought".The third chapter focuses on phenomenology(" suspension " in human experience,strong " intervention " thought),expression(the combination of literary creation and philosophical speculation,the fusion of mythological consciousness with symbol and metaphor)and new humanism(the modern development and interpretation of humanism,The author interprets the advancement and uniqueness of the "Southern thought" in The Rebel in the social environment at that time.The fourth chapter discusses the social influence of the "Southern thought" in The Rebel at that time,analyzes the cause of the controversy caused by the "Southern thought",and then excavates the enlightening significance of the "southern thought" as a good medicine and a good word to the later generations.The innovation of this article is that through The Rebel in "south thought" in-depth interpretation,reveals the core of his thought is sure of the value of individual life and demands of equality of national independence,and analysis of the idea of "south" in the construction of a harmonious world to pursue,to build a community of human destiny. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Camus, The Rebel, "Southern thought", New humanism | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
